Stiverne should have used the Charles Martin maneuver after that second knockdown.

Relatively nothing? How many heavyweights have had more title defenses than Wilder? Even dating back to when the alphabet trinkets became numerous?

How many heavyweight champs were allowed to have 5 voluntary defenses in a row against journeymen? How many heavyweight champs had **** poor mandos like a fat and inactive 39 year old Stiverne? How many heavyweights were helped by inconsistent decisions of the sanctioning bodies when it comes to their potential opponents' drug testing results?

The fact remains, there aren't many HW champions in the rich history of boxing who have made more consecutive successful title defenses.

Maybe because the heavyweight champions of the past took more risks and weren't as coddled as Wilder? :watchout:

Personally I think wilder is a pretty dangerous fight for AJ. He has bad flaws but if he lands, the Joshua train is in trouble. Seems unlikely but wilder looks quicker, it's not impossible for him to land one of those straight rights. Power like that is always dangerous and it's not like the guy isn't athletic. I'd tip Joshua but I don't feel easy about the fight at all. It could be down to who chokes mentally, I'd probably say wilder because AJ will be miles better than anyone he has fought, he must see that his own resume pales in comparison. I'd be surprised if it happens soon, AJ doesn't seem very interested...

Really why should AJ & Deonkay take any risks while people still support them fighting wino's off the street.

Tyson, Lewis, Klitchskos, to name a few.

So YES, for a guy who was supposed to be the "next big thing" he has accomplished relatively nothing. Keep in mind that he's already 32. Also, if you want to place high stock on the opponents he beat in those defenses then we just have to agree to .........., oh you know how that goes.

The rumors were all over the place about Don King and Haymon making a deal for Stiverne to take a dive early. I posted this "before" the fight, the rumors usually have some truth and sometimes are true. No wonder Stiverne did not bother to train, or even throw one punch, why do that when you are taking a dive?

Quite the opposite I think. It was a great first round knock out, and now a whole lot of people want to see more. Who wouldnt want to see Wilder fight A.J or Parker? I know I’ll be watching it

My view is that Wilder is plenty flawed, and I think sooner or later he'll meet someone who bests him, and not necessarily one of the top dogs. But his power and athleticism make him a clear threat to anyone.

I don't think his title reign is all that impressive. But still, the fact that there are only a dozen or or so (I think it's around 15) heavyweight champions who have historically made more defenses holds some significance.
