So after having a few odd experiences in the boxing metaverse, I’ve had my mind blown once again.

First I found out the first ever fight between a British champion and an American champion happened on a field behind what is now a pub called the Ship Inn between Tom Sayers and Ben Heenan took place.

Secondly my Auntie used to be a book keeper for Frank Warren.

Thirdly, I met Lloyd Honeyghan’s cousin in my shop that put £1000 on him to beat Donald curry as a 12/1 underdog. Served him once every 6 months or so and we’d have a good 30 minute catch up every time we saw each other. Even weirder another one of his cousins is now my security guard for my town centre

Fourthly I met Tommy Farr’s regular Taxi Driver’s nephew at my shop, he wasn’t convinced I really knew what I was talking about until I talked about the best boxers from that era with him for a little bit and he was like
‘Oh ****, you really do know your boxing’

And now, doing a pub quiz tonightin my local town with a couple of friends. A BMXer that my main friend group have known for a while has recently started hanging around with us. Turns out he’s BOB FITZSIMMONS GREAT GREAT GRANDSON!?!?!?!? honestly, star struck. I mentioned he’s a top 10 P4P fighter of all time (IMO) he disagreed, but also turns out he knows **** all about boxing lol.

but anywho, just thought I’d share this one with you. It really is a small small world!

And my favourite band ever, Mega City 4, came from there.
