Exactly. A whole bunch of us have been talking about Khan's fragile whiskers since day one, but there has been at least an equal number who poo-pooed the idea, said that ALL fighters are matched with light-hitters early in their career (WRONG), or said that others who'd gotten decked had succeeded (true, but it wasn't feather-fisted nobodies who put these guys on the canvas). Well, the verdict is IN. Now, if we can just get the delusional "that punch woulda KO'd anybody" crowd to can their bull**** excuses, everything'll be all set!:good
Don't feel too sorry for him. He's made millions facing a bunch of light-hitting soft touches, and he'll probably make a few million more serving as a name opponent for up and comers to get a quickie KO against.:yep
We all knew that Khan's chin was shaky. The question was that if he went in with a puncher, alveit a reported one at low level, how would he cope. The answer was there for all to see and I'm glad that Warren has lost his cash cow. The thought of him, Khan and Sky feeding us this horse**** for the next five or ten years made me cringe. That'll learn you!
Lewis had a decent chin. He traded bombs with Vitali and was never in danger against the likes of Tua and Tyson. But his chin wasn't great and at heavyweight it's quite easy to get knocked out especially if you fight lots of top guys like Lewis did. The late Diego Corrales is a good example of a fighter with a shaky chin that had great success.
dont get me wrong, i felt like justice was served in that fight. one of my gripes about khan was that he was making ridiculous money for a fighter who did'nt even fight in 12 rounders. money, that more deserving guys (emmanuel augustus for example) will never even get a whiff of in there careers. still, i felt some tinge of pity for khan after getting demolished in embarassing fashion, in the 1st minute of the first round, in his 1st ppv. presscot was the heavy hand of justice.
Lewis took flush shots from Tua and Tyson yet Zakman goes on about Wlad's chin as better. Otherwise his chin knowledge Is good.
I don't think Lewis did take flush shots from Tua and Tyson, actually - but I agree that Zakman underates Lewis's chin.
Tua never got close enough to land that left of his. He connected solidly, maybe only about 10 times the whole fight. I did remember Lennox get shook up by one or two Tua punches, but not enough to make a serious dent.
He did land it, but glancingly, the shots, to my memory, were always finishing to Lewis's left or right, rather than through the target. Lewis did get buzzed, but he is good when he is buzzed. Uses his size and moves his head, doesn't go mental firing back.
:good I really wished Lennox would go nuts and trade with the little guy. That would have been fun. Tua just could not get into his sweet spot often enough and accurate enough because of Lweis' style.
Remember when Zakman mentioned Mark Breland who wasn't a fraud but said he was because he has a glass jaw.
