Isiah Thomas was knocked loopy there and was literally, saved by the bell. If that punch had come even 5 seconds earlier it would be lights out. Unfortunately it came right on the bell and the ref managed to save his **** by judging it as a foul. By rights, Thomas should now have a KO loss on his record.

Yup, watching the fight I knew it was only a matter of time before Gassiev caught him, he hurt him with the first shot anyways, should've stopped there and finished the job in the next round

It was pretty blatantly after but didn't seem intentional.

but to the original topic: Who was hyping Thomas? Seriously, there hasn't been any chatter about him on these boards (at least very little). I don't know if "hypejob" is the right word to describe him.

I think you mean 5 seconds before the bell.

Thomas basically quit in the fight. He could have continued, but he knew Gassiev was going to knock him out.

The first punch was just before the bell and hurt Thomas. The final 1-2 came just slightly after the bell, but Gassiev was already in throwing motion.

It was basically a matter of time, but Thomas wanted to keep his 0.

He would have been hit with that shot regardless, bell or no bell, literally he hit him with one shot "ding" and another, it wasn't like Thomas had time to collect himself after the first shot flew his head almost out of the ring and put his guard up after the bell to defend himself. It was a total p**sy quit job to save his zero.

There will never be a rematch because Gassiev is just too strong for Thomas.
This was the best outcome Thomas could get. He would have been knocked out if he didn't quit.
In my view, Gassiev is not to blame.

You know what:huh? What the hell is going on in these training camps lately involving defense?
Imam had no D, Thomas had no D, Jones Jr. had no D, people **** on Mayweather about being overly defensive but maybe he had a point.

All these dudes getting their clocks cleaned lately:dead

Everyone of these guys that they say are the next Floyd Mayweather they're nowhere close, I like Lubin but he gets hit clean far too much, Gervonta Davis got tagged and rocked far too many times tonight, Spence gets hit too much, Love got KO'd, Pearson almost got KO'd tonight and lost his 0, Broner got manhandled by Maidana.

The only guys that even come close to Mayweather defensively, check out Jezreel Corrales from Panama and Alphonso Blanco of Venezuela.

Maybe I'm going about this all wrong, but who actually favored Thomas in that fight?
I thought it was about Gassiev having a little test, wich he passed despite not having another KO win on his record.
Gassiev by KO was the consensus outcome for the fight as far as I know.

How is he a hype job? I follow boxing religiously and I thought he played for the Boston Celtics.
