First, let's start off with the ESPN's FNF! First fight of the night on TV we had Vladine Biosse-Joe McCreedy having a nice give and take battle for 8 rounds with the crowd going wild. Biosse showed some nice skills, for a novice, and is already fighting fighters of McCreedy's type. Godd for him, and we got a great night of action and the crowd was electric. Then we had Molina-Lundy two very hungry fighters, two fighters that are prospects looking for glory down the line, and what did that bring us, and nice exciting fight. We saw a little flash from Lundy for the whole fight and we saw Molina's heart and desire to win this fight and when Lundy finally slowed down Molina gave it to him and we saw an epic KD in the 8th ala Bradley-Holt esq and Molina finally stopped him in 11.

Then, we had Solo Boxeo TECATE! We saw Lara come in and take care of business in 1 round. In impressive fashion he took his time threw some mean combos, took his time and finished off the overmatched Correa. Hopefully, in Lara's next fight or two we see him with the big boys at 154. Next fight we had mister upset himself Derrick Wilson taking on Ricky Lopez. Derrick "The Cherry Buster" Wilson was after another "0". For those that don't know Wilson he upset Charles Huerta by 1st round KO last year on Versus' Fight Night Club. Next fight, he got upset by the vet Guadalupe De Leon right back, and he has been on a bit of a rocky road. Next fight was a draw, next one he won by MD.

So, now that you know a little bit of his backstory he took on Ricky Lopez. What do we see? First round BOOM! Wilson drops Lopez in the first round and we get a back-and-forth see saw battle, and eventually Wilson prevailed and got yet another upset, and another 0 in his back pocket. Next fight was Raul Carrillo and Joel Vargas. I know Carrillo stopped him late, but I don't have any details due to the fact that my DVR recording of that fight got screwed up.

Alright then, last, but not least we had the ShoBox card on Showtime (Don't you love that HD ShoBox has now? It's the 2nd ShoBox card in HD. That **** is HOTTT!) Alright, we had Antwone Smith lacing that up against another tough vet Lanardo Tyner. That both went at it toe to toe for a good 4 rounds straight (and to my surprsie the ShoBox crew had Smith easily winning the fight, personally, I had Tyner up) then in the middle to late portion Tyner turned it on and in the 8th Smith was hurt early and got on his bik for the majority of the round. Round 9, yet again Tyner hurt him and a wicked left hook to the body, and left hook on the noggin sent Smith down on the canvas, and the ref stopped the fight. So, with Antwone Smith getting upset, the question was could Irving Garcia pull off an upset? That question was answered and Jones, for the most part, handled Garcia with ease. First round nothing much happened, but from then on MJ turned up the heat, and in round 5 after 20 straight unanswered blows, MJ hammered Garcia with a low low blow, but Randy Neuman, the ref, did not see it and counted Irving Garcia out. MJ won and was impressive.

So, now this was a great night of Boxing on every channel basically. This has been the best night of Boxing since Feb. 5th, and what a night it was. Great Boxing all around, and for those real Boxing fans that made that effort to watch a couple of these cards. :good Congrats you were rewarded, and for those of you who are whining about this year being crappy, and you want Mayweather-Pacquiao to happen and if it doesn't happen you will stop watching Boxing, well, you are an imposter. That's a fact. I know this won't get a whole lotta posts, because it isn't about Pac or Mayweather, and this isn't taking apart some fighter and calling him dog ****, or what have you. This is a post about Boxing and what being a fan is about. Just watching as much Boxing as you can, and just enjoing it. I'm not going to go in a lot of detail, just getting some things off my chest, but the point is this was an amazing night of Boxing. :good

As great as Friday the 9th was, Dan, Saturday the 10th may have just blown it out of the water!

Donaire looked very good in his stoppage of Marquez.

Lopez looked great in his stoppage of Concepcion (despite getting floored himself).

Alvarez looked amazing in his stoppage of Cuello.

Friday had more competitive ebb and flow, but a higher skill level and a much higher adrenaline rush were offered up on Saturday.

Yea, I agree with you. I think tonight was better, but really I just made this thread more out of frustration. You know, it's friday night lots of Boxing on TV, and leading up to friday night there was like two threads all week long talking about the fights, and afterwards there were about 2 threads actually talking about the fights (excluding the IB RBR threads of course :D) and so I just made this thread out of frustration and just venting a bit.

ESB has a relative minority of genuine boxing fans.

Eh, he's a clubfighter and doesn't make himself out to be more than a clubfighter. He's aggressive, throws lots of punches, has really leaky defense and always gives 110% - in other words, he's fun to watch.

Anyway, good weekend of boxing all the way around. It was a surprise too - I thought Smith-Tyner might be a good fight, but the other ones surprised me.

He gave an undefeated SMW prospect who's a bit of a sparring legend (gave cruiserweight contender Matt Godfrey some problems, knocked Jesse Brinkley flat, and has put in solid work with Peter Manfredo, Edwin Rodriguez, and Demetrius Andrade) a hell of a tough scrap.

he does have a chin, i give him that one. But he was god awful sloppy, and his only saving grace was smothering Diosse. Slow, footwork awful, he only had one punch (right across... of course), and throwing these crazy looping hooks, swinging for the fences lol - remind me of early UFC's and barroom fights

Brawlers can be effective. He could easily have upset Biosse if he was a lesser prospect and not so determined.

He's sprung at least two such upsets in the past, over local Boston area prospects.

That would thin the herd considerably. :yep

It'd be all four and five-star matchups, all the time.

maybe, maybe not. That fight vs Diosse was my first only impression on him. Maybe his boxer opponent made him look slow and bad.... just not used to seeing a pro fighter look sloppy and out of control like he was.
