Thanks mightily for telling us buddy. It is a GREAT idea to make a thread about EVERY SINGLE thought that comes to you. Enquiring minds want to know, "Just what makes William Walker tick?"
it was a very good fight and a great performance by a young Floyd. I think the Moore of 5-6 years earlier would have given a better account of himself though
I think Moore "just had one of those nights", he had given prime Rocky much tougher time the year before, but maybe that's why he did so poorly against Floyd. I thought this fight was a great illustration of bobbing, weaving, etc., head-to-head fighting stuff. Top Moore vs. Floyd is awesome to think about. Although I think peek-a-boo typically is problematic for cross-armed fighters, I think Moore could have beaten Floyd. Floyd was very good, but Moore's expertise and chin were near inconquerable imo.
absolutely. Both Moore and Patterson displayed excellent up body movement. Amazing that Archie was able to keep that up given that it gets much harder to do with old age
Ya, I absolutely detest the idea that Moore had a fragile chin. It's the worst I've ever heard. I would say I don't know of anyone with a better chin than Moore.
i wouldn’t say he had the BEST chin at heavyweight but there is no evidence to say it was fragile either. Archie Moore was very durable.
But the whipping Moore took from Durelle in the first fight was unbelievable at his age, I don't know a better fight to prove someone is durable.
He had over 60 fights at heavyweight bro and showed durability in most of them. Yes Archie Moore was durable at both weights.
I agree, but it makes sense that he would appear less durable against heavyweights, since it would take less punishment from them to wear him down.
