Actually, that does put the fights in ascending order of projected awesomeness.

Ortiz-Peterson as an appetizer for the hungry fan (with Klitschko-Chisora no longer serving as an afternoon snack :!:).
    Khan-Maidana as the soup.
    Darchinyan-Mares as the steak.
    Perez-Agbeko II for dessert.

    Bon appetit! :ibutt

I'm sort of looking more forward to the Showtime broadcast action-wise.

Showtime. Any hardcore boxing fans knows that both of those fights are toss ups while the HBO card is fairly one sided. The underdog would need a hail mary to win.

    Im picking Mares by KO
    Perez by UD
    Ortiz by TKO
    Khan by TKO

Cant wait for this weekend. Although the sad part is this is the last huge event for hardcore fans. Hopkins-Pascal is just one fight and i cant really think of any other big fights until Alexander-Bradley at the end of january.

These dumbasses are just choking off the sport they're both trying to promote.

Anyhoo, i'm going with the HBO card this time. I need to see:

Too close to call IMO... I'll check the listings come fight night and watch whatever comes on first, flipping back and forth between rounds... Then I'll watch the replay of the other...

HBO, because that's all we get. I'll catch up with the Showtime card on Sunday.

You...don't have to wait until fight night to know which order they're on. The listings are already listed.

Showtime's first (9pm Eastern, so 6 your time in Los Angeles). HBO is next (9:30pm Eastern, 6:30 LA).

It's mostly because of Khan's global star power, I'd wager.

If it were Ortiz-Peterson paired with...say, Maidana-Kotelnik II on HBO, it would likely be lopsided in Showtime's favor.

IMO, these results are probably representative of two of the most dominant demographics here at ESB (British fans, and Pacquiao fans who have by extension become fans of anything to do with Roach).

People get blinded by hype and star power, and can tend to miss out entirely when there's an epic night of action just in front of their noses. :deal

Don't get me wrong...Khan's an interesting talent, and under normal circumstances is certainly worth tuning in for. He just isn't special enough to be like "OMG KHAN!!! He trumps whatever else is on!!!" :conf Here I guess there's the somewhat overblown added drama of whether Maidana can knock him out, which also attracts hater attention.

Well, personally..I'm going with the HBO card live over the Showtime telecast because I don't know what to expect from Ortiz-Peterson or Khan-Maidana. I do, however, already know what to expect from Perez-Agbeko because we've seen them square off before already. As great as their first fight was, I'm not all that excited for a rematch because I already have an idea of how it's going to play out. Darchinyan-Mares is an intriguing match up and one I'm really excited to watch, but not intriguing enough for me to put it over two other intriguing match ups airing simultaneously.

Then again, I'm technically not choosing one over the other since I'll have the Showtime card going on my laptop. :bbb

Agree 100%! The Showtime card is far superior with two genuine FOTY candidates whereas the other is typical HBO/GB overhyped BS!

After giving it some thought, here's a fairly realistic way for it to unfold that gives me hope of seeing as much live action as possible:

Mares knocks Darchinyan out quickly - within 5 rounds. Abner carries power early, and is more aggressive than Donaire.

Perez-Agbeko starts by 9:30...around the same time as Ortiz-Peterson or a little before.

Perez and Agbeko go another twelve rounds (I can't really see either one of them knocking the other out), ending in plenty of time to switch over at around 10:30 for Khan-Maidana...assuming that Ortiz-Peterson goes the distance as well.

Since Ortiz-Peterson is the least likely to produce either FOTY-level two-way action or a highlight-reel KO, I don't mind catching it later (or even having the result spoiled).
