The Irish promoter in question is actually Gary Hyde of "No where to hide promtions". Hyde met Perez at a amateur multi-nations event in Liverpool, a few years back, and they have maintained contct since. Pashal Collins was the promoter of the Cork show in which Perez made his professional debut.

Ah ya that makes a little more sense as I know Paschal has been around a while , and Perez was meant to be going with an Irish promoter who has just started .

If only we could get Rigondeux.......... , anyone feel like a 'trip' to Cuba ?

real shame about him. The man's more talented than Gamboa but if he doesn't defect soon he'll be too old to make it as a pro.

This might be a little random, but 7 Cuban soccer (football) players defected in Tampa, Florida. I wonder what's causing everyone to leave...the all mighty dollar?

But just to keep things boxing related...

Have you seen Mike Perez's fight schedule?!?!?! He's lining up the bums like Tyson used to. It would be really interesting if this guy joins the "Bum a Week" Club.

I wasn't talking about the quality of opponent. That's stating the obvious unless you're Pete Rademacher. I know that everybody fights bums starting out in the pros. I meant the volume of fighters Perez is taking on. Three fights in four weeks. That's what I'm pointing out.

I wonder if this kid should try his hand at cruiser. He'd *have* to stay in shape that way, and there are significant fights there on the horizon. At 22, he has plenty of time to grow into becoming a heavy, if that's what he chooses to do.

Ya know that isn't a bad idea at all. But he'll have to face a serious amount of talent if he climbs fast enough. Men like Cunningham and Banks look to pose a threat.

I don't know, their bigger fighters haven't really panned out. They get here and get lazy.

Ramon Garbey, JC Gomez (Cruiser champ but bust at Heavy), JL Gonzalez (sucked as a pro), Elicier and Eliseo Castillo all were underwhelming.

Solis has potential but isn't in shape and has a lot to prove.
