Yes it's old but it's new to me because I've never seen or heard Floyd make this comment before and I figured there maybe some other people who haven't seen it either. That's why I posted it. :good
You said it, im sick of people slaggin margo off and completely disregarding him becos of what happened. If margo can take shots from cintron and cotto and still keep throwing punches then he can deffo get to floyd. Clottey beats floyd btw!
Marg was the man at the time. Listen up guys just because you're more skilled or a much more evolved technician, that doesn't make you the better fighter. And anyone who knows boxing knows this.
PBF wanted to fight Tszyu, Mosley, DLH at that time. He did not feel that Margo was a big enough name to propell him. Today it seems like like it was a bad decision. When he couldn't get fights with Tszyu, Mosley, or DLH he then fought Baldomir. I believe that by the time PBF figured he couldn't land fights with Tszyu, Mosley, DLH. Margo was set to fight Paul Williams anyway. Even if Margo was available Baldomir matchup wise provided PBF with the same challenges at Margo. Exept Baldomir won 19 straight fights, held a more prestigous belt, held a higher ranking, beat better opponents in his last 2 fights then Margo. Baldo was also a very hot fighter at the time but didn't have many yrs left. Margo on the other hand would be around in the future. Its easy to see why he wouuld fight Baldomir over Margarito.The flat out had more to offer PBF then Margo did. Even if Margo cheated vs PBF he wouldn't have won. Cotto was boxing Margo's socks off and PBF is a WAY better boxer then Cotto. The difference is Cotto gets hit to much, cuts and swells to easily while PBF deosn't. The fight would have consisted PBF beating Margo to the punch with his speed while escaping any power shots from Margo for 12 rds as he is way to slow to hit PBF.
I'm sure that if Margarito was still on his win streak ... beat Shane Mosley, came back and beat Paul Williams ... never got suspended ... the public would demand a fight between Floyd and Margarito.
