I just dont get it!! You are giving an opportunity to become the heavyweight champion of the world and to perform the way Juan carlos gomez did, is criminal. Im sure getting inside of VK jab is very difficult, but when gomez did( which he did quite often) he did nothing but hug and hold. VK was ripe for the picking last night!!!!
It looks easy on TV but when Gomez did get in on the inside he also had to worry about not getting hit. I really believe he did try his best and was trying to be aggressive so dont equate his attitude to when Rahman fought Wlad.
I love how people can say it looks easy when there not in the frigging ring with a 6ft 7 inch giant of a man who is both bloody strong and has a brutal jab on him, get hit by that enough times early on and it would im sure put you of any game plan you may have had, come on guys its not VK problem he wins so easy, same with his bro, about time some of these big mouth twats who mouth of before the fight step the **** up and prove they can do it, its great watching them get in the ring then **** themselves
I thought it was a good fight, especially if you consider that Gomez is a southpaw, spoiler type of boxer. I do think Gomez looked a lot worse than he did in the past, although Vitali may have had a thing or two to do with that.
It wasn't a joke. Actually, it was an pretty interesting fight. Gomez has 10 times the skills of Sam Peter and tried and found success 10 times better. Landed some clean blows and never stopped looking for his shots. But Vitali, despite not looking like a Floyd Mayweather, is very good neutralizing his oppoents' aggressiveness and places his shot pretty well. Gomez is not easy to hit either and had the reach advantage, just couldn't deal with Klitschko's physical advantage. On skill level alone, the Cuban is has more tools than Povetkin and Haye combined, and has a better overall defense than either of those guys. But Vitali, unlike his jabbing boredom brother called Wladimir, goes in there with a bad attitude to beat you up, and that's what he did vs. a very good contender. It wasn't a joke. Vitali-Haye would be the joke, Vitya would Herbie Hide Haye (Hide was a bit more skilled and a bit quicker than Haye with the same kind of crushing power and weak chin).
It wasn't a joke fight. Gomez was a credible opponent. It was a boring fight thought. And who is Vitali going to fight next? The division is horrible! :-(
Gomez is a very good boxer, I've always said so, you can check my previous posts if you don't believe that. That said, Vitali is a very awkward fighter & that throws his opponents off their game. Gomez landed some decent punches, especially early & I believe "leading with his head" was part of the strategy, he just didn't expect to get the worse part of those headbutt exchanges. Another point is that when Gomez did get inside Vitali made him pay. That made Gomez a bit desperate. Let's not forget that awkward fights are common when an orthodox fighter fights a southpaw.
"Joke" is too strong a term. Kirk Johnson's effort vs VitKlit was a joke. This was a fighter that just didn't have the tools to pull it off but put forth an effort to do so. A "joke" would have ended far before this fight did.
what the **** are you smoking? Gomez put up a valiant effort and he had some skills and he came to win the title. That was a quality fight i'm starting to lose hope in ESB. btw I went to watch it at a bar and the bar was packed with people to see this fight, here in Canada.
