Another Kellerman radio interview (Exceptional)

Wow, suddenly I like Max. He couldnt have explained it better, and I've always said the same thing except he just said it so much better. lol.

 

Max Kellerman has always been an excellent boxing analyst. The problem is that the people in this site have to issues:

1. Resistance to change: They got used to the old drunk and don't want to see him gone.
2. Kellerman himself: He's a guy that you either like or want to punch in the face. No middle ground. Most people hate him so much that they don't listen.

But if you pay close attention to what he says, you realize that he's not only insightful, he's also a huge fan and wants boxing to succeed.

 

Merchant was a poet, a guy you knew had been through life and a guy who could come up with subtle, interesting points in relations to a fight.

Max is more like the plucky academic that is book smart but hasn't been around long enough to really understand the world.

I don't mind Max, but Merchant on form is great - Max is not great.

 

I loved his 4 corners explanation.

That about sums it up. I'd add that you never get the sense that Merchant is interested in self-promotion. Often Kellerman seems like he's promoting himself as much or more than the sport.

 

Athletes dont sit back and say: hmmm I can make lots of money in boxing but my odds of getting rich are greater in basketball. Athletes know what they want to be even as kids and boxing has as much or more prestige as any but soccer, basketball and football are simply more available. Moreover, it seems that the one- on-one discipline, courage, and durability needed for boxing has diminished in our video game culture but Kellerman the promoter would never admit to any entropy among boxers.

Concerning Margarito, Kellerman is no more honest than any other promoter trying to hype the Cotto fight via excusing the Margarito loss. In fact he is a devout atheist who doesnt believe in any kind of liar-karma except some big fist at the club.

I don't see the relevance of that part of your comment. The relationship (or lack thereof) with God is something extremely personal and should not be taking into account when judging somebody's job performance.
You don't like Kellerman, you're entitled to your opinion, but you're opening a bigger can of worms here.

You don't need to believe in a God to be a good person, the same goes for being a good boxing analyst.

 

I never said that I didnt like Max. He is often better than Jim and Larry and a few others. I simply gave reasons to why he is an obvious liar and biased slanderer hyping a fight like the sleez bag promoters persecuting Margarito. Moreover:

Dude, I appreciate the preaching. The bible has very good lessons to be a good person, but keep in mind that it was written by people, in a time where something like that was needed.

However, why "rule the world" - all we should thrive is for us to get along and respect nature.

I'm going to give this right back to you:

Then you should practice what you preach and quit jumping on ESB's atheistic bandwagon (hmm I see that you edited your initial atheist admission above) that consistently fails to take into account the profound and fulfilled prophecies of the prophets and the millions of witnesses to the inspirations and miracles of the Holy Spirit.

Oh and get off the Margarito persecuting band wagon too because he already went to trial and the knuckle pad's chain of custody done proved reasonable doubt
