I am seeing some of the worst P4P lists I've ever seen on this thread. And I'm into the whole "P4P ranking" thing.
THIS is a good list. I'd bump Rigondeaux down below Wladimir and raise Sergio above him too. As for borderlines, Froch is certainly next in line. Matthysse is among the Romans, Iokas, D. Garcias of the world right after that. GGG is somewhere below 30, let us be realistic now.
borderlines/ guys that are not far away from cracking the top 10 Alvarez, Huck, Burns, Matthysse, Golovkin , Geale, Uchiyama, John
Huck, Burns, and Golovkin a cut below. Add Ioka, Hopkins, and I hate saying it but maybe even Broner to your list and I agree.
Good list but id switch Pac and Bradley because Pac beat him How people have Froch in there top 10 i do not know
Adrian Broner Adrian Broner Adrian Broner Adrian Broner Adrian Broner Adrian Broner Adrian Broner Adrian Broner Adrian Broner Adrian Broner No blueprint Next Floyd Mayweather Jr unbeattable
1. Floyd Mayweather 2. Andre Ward- although if he doesn't return soon he should start to drop down just based off inactivity alone. 3. JMM- With Ward's long layoff due to injury, one could make a case that JMM could be the # 2 guy, especially if you think he was robbed in any of his earlier Pacman fights- especially JMM-Pac III which looked pretty clearly like a JMM win. 4. Martinez- I don't think Martinez should drop any further than this even he's looked sluggish in his last few fights. He still came out with the victories and his fight against Chavez was pretty much a landslide until Martinez decided to fight stupidly for the 12th. He has an impressive resume, KO'd WIlliams after being robbed in their first fight. Also was robbed in one of the worst draw decisions I can remember vs Cintron. Martinez hasn't lost in a very long time and he deserves to be inside the top 5. 5. Wladimir- Can't put Mares or any of the young guns above Wladimir, primarily because of how long and dominant his reign as HW champion has been. 6. Pacman- Pacman was the # 1 or 2 P4P fighter for a very long time. He should've received the nod against Bradley, he was obviously robbed in that fight. And although I'm a huge Marquez fan I can admit it was looking like JMM was going to get knocked out within the next round or 2. He was looking like the faded man until he nailed him with that perfect KO shot. Until that KO, Pacman hadn't lost in a very long time, and shouldn't fall down further than this. His body of work trumps the guys in the 7-10 range. 7. Rigo 8. Mares 9 and 10- Can make a case for Donaire/Bradley/Danny Garcia/Canelo Alvarez at these spots.
I'm so sorry , really sorry I forgot I'm not allowed to give credit to fighters from Europe...... take out the europeans and put in 2 yanks and a japanese. Marco Huck has made 11 consecutive defences of his world title and proved he's the number 1 cruiserweight.. he deserves to be somewhere between 11 to 20. Yet Hopkins got beat off that overhyped fraud BUM dawson recently for ****s sake Burns 2 weight world champion, number 1 at lightweight, has beaten some top fighters. It's funny how Huck has made 11 consecutive defences of his world title and isn't being mentioned, yet Mikey Garcia has has just 2 world title fights and hes almost broke the top 10 lol, yank bias as always
1. Mayweather 2. Ward 3. Marquez 4. Pacquiao 5. Rigondeaux 6. Martinez 7. Mares 8. Froch 9. Bradley 10. Wlad
Thanks Smoak :good I think my list has flaws, a big one being rigo too high perhaps. But I simply cant put anyone above him based on what I saw from him, and who he did it to. He completely embodied what P4p means for me (flashbacks of Donaire making fun of his height at the weigh in) He was masterful. But I realize he lacks the resume, which invites criticism of him being ranked so high. I feel Martinez's resume and his years of being p4p have him on the list, but do I really feel he is a true p4p force right now? I do not (and Im a huge fan of Sergio) Which is why its hard for me to rank him higher. I feel hes there to be taken at this point, and I feel ranking him high perpetuates the illusion that tends to happen in boxing where 'name' fighters get ranked higher then they should actually be p4p, based on their resume and name. (just imo though) but ya, my list bugs me.... but its the only way I can personally have it. Its why I don't normally do p4p lists GGG : If he got the fight against Martinez and demolished him it would do wonders for his ranking (obviously, lol) But its hard to become p4p beating on the likes of Rosado and Ishida, no matter how stunning you look. Good news is hes stepping up each time just about and with Martinez saying he wants to fight him, if they fight in 2014, GGG could find himself a p4p'er by the end of that year, imo. But right now, yes hes a long way off. Having Pac above Bradley would be more then fair :good Good shout. If I redid my list Id probably switch em
Before this new contract Floyd fought once year and was extra carefull about opponent selection calm down
Id have no problem placing Ward above Mayweather. Only thing keeping May there on my list is basically his resume and history of being number 1, and doing juuuuuust enough on top of that to maybe not get taken off. Whether that is justifiable criteria is debatable.
