The question we have to ask is who was to blame? One guy swerved and ducked and talked about fans being patient while the other was practically begging for the other guy to fight him. Wilder is at fault and practically has jinked himself and lost out on all that money. Hate him or love him AJ was the commercial cash cow in the division and with his loss all their pockets are going to take a hit.

I posted about this the other day saying that Joshua and Wilder have done well because the value of the fight had gone up a long way but there has to be a point where you draw the line and just make it. Were they hoping it would go up to a billion? Just greed.

I think what happen yesterday was good for the division.

These megafights should happen more often now, because AJ and team hearn got a HUGE slice of humble pie.

Wilder would be running for the title shots now, and would be saying no to people like Dillian even more often than he has been. Anyone of those guys can fall off the top just-like-that.

It’s not greed in this case so much as a battle of platforms, particularly in this case with Eddie and his dazn commitment.

He makes what was the top heavyweight attraction in the world an exclusive-to-platform performer. Then rejects offers that don’t make dazn have to bid for the big fights (because they don’t have to) and every offer he makes has to tie the opponent (specifically Wilder) to dazn not just for the initial fight but for subsequent fights (rematch and otherwise).

It’s a deal killer. So now he’s stuck with Poppin Fresh Ruiz and Chinny Joshua as his dazn heavyweight star attractions. Good luck with that.
