Another of Gamboa's serious assetts.

I suggested he fights at 126, cleans those B level titlists there and learns much in the process, then steps in with better opponents.

Seriously.. Guerrero, John, Linares. These guys have good skills, present the stylistic changes, but aren't th same kinds of threats.

That would be a good progress with Chris John as the icing on the cake. However, I was fairly sure you suggested someone else - perhaps Pacman?

All I don't want is Gamboa to rush up the ranks and weight classes too fast, to the point where his natural ability no longer will guide him through to winning. He is strong and fast at the weight he is, but he would need to totally alter his approach to his game, if he wants to succeed at higher weight classes, where he no longer will be the stronger, and perhaps not even the faster(due to even more muscle or body fat). Thus far it is his confidence that he is the superior and stronger fighter that has brutalized his opponents - how will he be able to adjust, if not heeding my warnings?

He showed multi-dimensionality offensively against Jimenez, smothered him inside, schooled him outside a bit, just didn't show the proper tactical uses of either yet, which is to be expected.

I was just pulling my hyping routine saying he'd beat Pac now. But in a years time I heavily favour him over Pac, in assuming the flaws are sharpened to where they need to be.

I don't think Gamboa can fight at 126 for any extended period of time. He was completely ripped for the Jimenez fight yet he weighed 140 on fight night. I think he's risking draining himself if he tries to fight at 126 for more than 1 or 2 fights.

That would be assuming Pac declines, as Gamboa becomes more allrounded, or is it with Pacman in a temporal stasis? Nonetheless, lets see in a year - personally I think one more year would be too fast for Gamboa, but time will tell - usually germans don't take too unnecessary risks, which I think is good in the case of Gamboa.

After the Jiminez fight, I would still favor Gamboa over Pac in a 6 rounder. I think he could take his shots for 6 rounds and land more punches while making Pac miss a lot more. Pac is just too basic to beat a fighter like Gamboa if Gamboa's chin could take it. If JMM had Guzman's chin, he would have pretty much shut Pac out with zero problems last March.

In a year, if Gamboa fixes his flaws, I think he would stop Pac before the championship rounds.

The way Oner has been handling Gamboa is the exact opposite of the way German-based promoters would usually treat a prospect.

jimenez, a C-level fighter w/ decent power was able to KD gamboa in the sixth round. pac, an elite fighter w/ very good power will certainly do a lot more within those 6 rounds. jimenez's handspeed, timing and accuracy are nowhere hear that of pac's. if gamboa was hit by jimenez by several flush shots, pac will land a ton more.

and i would say that gamboa's chin is certainly more fragile than jmm's. jmm's chin can withstand punches from A-level to Elite fighters of decent to good power while gamboa cannot even take a punch from a c-level of decent power.

stop w/ the excessive nuthugging and be realistic. as a result of your extreme nuthugging of gamboa, you are also willing to nuthug his opponent, jimenez.

Damn.... I just don't know what to say to a post like this. You are heavily under rating Pac, and are over rating Gamboa as well. JMM would not have totally shutout Pac if he had Guzman's chin. That is absurd. The fight was neck and neck the whole way. I think you need to rewatch that fight again, your memory of it appears to be very inaccurate.

gamboa is a big talent, but Amsterdam is being hypocrite of the highest order bigging up him and thrashing Khan for exactly the same things.

Gamboa's chin has not proven to be worse than JMM's.. if anything, it was proven to be stronger. I can't see JMM taking all those flush punches from someone like Jiminez without getting hurt. Gamboa got knocked down by a flush shot to the temple as he was throwing a punch and slightly off-balance, he didn't get hurt at all and he got up instantly, then went back to attacking Jiminez like nothing happened.

Would it shock me if they fought in a month and Pac knocked him out? Of course not. But as long as Gamboa's chin is very solid, I would favor him to take the decision. He would also be able to take the risks necessary to hurt Pac or maybe even knock him down/out, unlike JMM. I would favor Gamboa 55/45, not heavily because his chin against a puncher like Pac is still a question to be answered.

In the first fight, JMM won almost every single round after the 2nd. In the second, JMM won the majority of the rounds and the main reason he struggled with Pac was because he fought him tentatively and usually threw punches only when it was very safe to do so. If he had Guzman's chin and didn't have to worry about getting hit with something big by Pac, then he would have fought a different, more aggressive fight, throwing more punches in the process. With Guzman's chin, even the old JMM that fought Pac in the rematch would win at least 10 rounds IMO, maybe stop him late.

What the hell are you on about? Khan's done jack ****, except beat a shot former titlist, whom was a light hitter and an undersized 130 pounder and beat the great Willie Limond, getting KD'd and stunned in the process.

If you want to compare Limond to Jimenez, go ahead, I'll laugh. Gamboa's only been in the pro game a year and by the end of the year will have nearly as many fights as Khan with much better opposition. Gamboa's fought more dangerous opposition for a prospect, Khan's been matched with opposition that specifically suits him and his vulnerabilities, extremely featherfisted subpar opponents with winning records, 95% from the british domestic scene, which has few quality fighters.
