Another of Hatton's supposed big wins takes a massive hit

I remember the media questioning the KO blow, I mean a KO to the body doesnt make good sports news.

The media interest was generated by the roll of Hatton at that time... not particularly for the Castillo win...

 

It was a decent win IMHO, not a great one but no matter what you think of it the Gomez fight shouldn't alter your opinion (which is Bettys thread title!!).

 

Nah the Gomez fight didn't alter mine..i already knew Gomez would win...he likes fighting shot fighters. As you say a decent win..but not a great one :good

To tell you truth, the way people are encouraging this Betty Swollocks, it would surprise me if this person was just someone on another account pretending to be the forum '' comedian ''.

 

I'm with sir Jon of Oli on this one.

The Hatton Castillo fight wasn't exactly 50/50 and JLC was passed his best no doubt, but it was only 2:1 Hatton which is damn close. Most of the inside money bet it all the way down to 2:1 from about 4:1 previously in the week. The "live" money was betting Castillo so sir Jon is pretty close in his analysis. I won money on that fight which was one of the few times i've wagered on boxing.

 

Yeah betting wise i don't doubt it was close. But i just couldn't see the Castillo against Ngoudjo beating a unbeaten on form Hatton. Hatton proved it by stopping him.

Are you talking about the general media mate?

If so, we all know by now that they havent got the foggiest when it comes to the noble art. I'm sure BBC had Clinton Woods in their top 10 P4P not too long ago.

If you're talking about the boxing press, then I am surprised. I've not started subscribing to magazines until the last couple of years, so I didnt see any boxing press build up to the Hatton fight. I'd be surprised if they built it up more than an American TV exposure excercise for Hatton against a once great lightweight. Good win for Hatton. Nothing more.

For me Castillo was on the slide. But not shot.

I think the manner of Hatton's victory of Tszyu perversly makes it look less impressive. Tszyu was quality at the time. Wrong side of his peak but not far off it for me. Yet Hatton won a lot more comfortably than even the most avid fans expected. This led to people saying Tszyu was 'shot'. For from it imo

 

No ones saying its more than a good win for hatton, its Betty that won't even give it that much credit.
