A popular boxing records site lists his next opponnent as Josue Blocus who has lost a close decision to Friday Ahunanya and won a close decision over David Cadieux...not exactly a great resume. Its past time for Fields to fight at the very least a Zuri Lawrence or a Ross Purrity. This isn't stay busy, this is record padding now.

yeah they should've been able to find a better fighter than that. i'm sure fields is somewhat avoided b/c he's so big, awkward, and with his high workrate he can probably give some good hw's problems if they can't ko him early, but at least fight a dangerous guy with some size. fields has a tv contrat after all so someone must want the exposure.

He can fight anybody he wants as long as he does not get any credit from the boxing media which he has never recieved. It only bothers me when people get credit while fighting nobodys.

  5. :good Agree the guy's pissing away his career fighting Tomato Cans:-( so **** him, he hasn't stepped up to the plate yet to fight real guy's at 33 he most likely never will, he's big at 6-8 but that dosen't mean ****, Sam Peter is 6-1 and could probaly Knock his ass out in 4 or 5 rounds..

Arum's trying to build him up for a Shannon Briggs / Ray Austin style title shot. I doubt he'll ever fight anyone that great until he gets beaten in a title fight. He's in the rankings for most of the ABCs, so someone will eventually pick him when they want to take on an easy defense. If Valuev gets a belt back, Valuev-Fields will eventually happen.

Fields has been more than happy to be a big fish in a little pond for years now.

probably is avoided a little bit...but there are certainly guys who are better than his recent opponnents who would fight him.

I used to be on the Fields Is A Bum bandwagon, and certainly he's not a world championship threat, but to his credit, he has improved. His fitness is excellent, and his punch volume against Releford was very impressive.

That said, he is still ponderously slow and throws arm punches.

Blocus isn't a horrible opponent. I see nothing wrong with a stay busy fight until Arum can get Fields into a big money shot. The problem with guys like Ahunanya and Lawrence is that they can actually fight.

I suspect Fields will eventually find himself in with a Valuev or Chagaev and lose. But I also think he'll be more competitive than people think.

He's much, much better than he used to be, believe me.
