Another reason Calzaghe is a legend is because he had a great chin!!

Always decends into a pathetic argument about how 'super' calzaghe is the GOAT or david haye is gonna KO everyone or amir khan is this and that , let's actually talk about something we've not heard

Everyone can have a great chin making a career fighting bartenders in Wales then claiming they "dominated" a division. Fact is, old Hopkins and RJJ knocked him down in the first round and both those guys didn't have stamina after round 5 yet still some single punches from Hopkins wobbled him. I think we know why it made sense to travel when these guys were beyond shot and we also know that if Lacy and Kessler didn't win belts and force to unify, he wouldn't have cared to. This guy surely won't be high on any ATG ranks and I hope the HOF overlooks him completely.

    Greatest post ever.

(Greatest post other than any post made in the Super Nick Valuev thread. They are, by association, collectively the GOAT.)

joe c had a great chin, and on the few occasions he got caught flush and went down he came back and out classed his opponent.

I always thought Calzaghe's chin was overrated. He has some decent whiskers sure, but nothing special. Of the guys who dropped him in his career, only Byron Mitchell was a good puncher (though not an especially good fighter). A past-prime Hopkins and Kabary Salem (12 KOs in 23 wins) were not strong punchers, and nor was the shot Roy Jones who hadn't stopped anyone in 6 years by the time he fought Joe. Joe never showed sustained resilience against a proven KO puncher, he showed decent punch resistance through his career, but nothing to suggest he had a James Toney style iron chin. I'd put him on the same level as Naseem Hamed in terms of chin - a good, solid chin but not an outstanding one.

*Underage pornographic avatar alert* Surely a ban-able offence. :dead:dead:nono:ban:ban1

Luminaries such as Sugar Ray Leonard, Marvin Hagler, Emmanuel Steward, and esteemed trainer Dan Birmingham have all praised Calzaghe to the hilt.

"Lacy's trainer Dan Birmingham, a man recently voted US trainer of the year for his work with the hitherto undefeated Lacy and the outstanding left-handed light-middleweight Ronald "Winky" Wright, spoke for the shell-shocked Lacy camp when he said after the fight: "I have never seen such a magnificent performance as that. You know we have a special southpaw in our team and Joe's performance ranks with anything he has done. His performance was masterful.
"His distance, the timings and angles were fantastic and I assure you that Joe Calzaghe is the only man in the world who could handle Jeff Lacy in this way.""

I see Headbanger and 46-0 are dealing sound verbal thrashings to bitter hicks who can't stand that a shot Joe dominated the best they have ever had to offer in the SMW and LHW divisions.

It saddens me Joe was completely shot to pieces, old and blown up when he faced Hop and RJJ, the Hoposexuals and Rojo's would be turning in their graves today after the mass suicides due to Joe's 1st round KO's of both, fortunately for them, Hop and RJJ cherry picked a near dead Calzaghe on which to fight.

Hops best win is Pavlik, and Martinez schooled him, RJJ best win is an over-rated Toney, and midget Griffin decimated him twice.

What do you consider Calzaghe's best win?
