Another reason Calzaghe is a legend is because he had a great chin!!

Holdmybeer you justify Hopkins while at the same time Damning Calzaghe. You rationalise Hopkins being a coward by using Ethnocentric reasoning thats all. There is no justification at all for Hopkins actions , he was offered home advantage, was offered career high pay and a belt, all this vs a fighter who most seem to regard as a hype job. The fight was with Showtime so it had exposure aswell. Hopkins next fight was with a nobody for much much less cash btw so it wasnt like he turned it down for a betetr fight.

i've never said he's a coward (except maybe when i was blind drunk)..and i've told you all this before.

you don't want to hear it because you're blinkered and an armchair fan who can't bear to lose his hero so **** off.

go beat off to him somewhere with cobbler.

Also i only sound like a broken record because i keep having to reply to the same vicious hypocritical attacks from people over and over. When people start being more objective and less subjective then maybe i can change my record.

no you're a broken record because, like cobbler, you're trying live part of your life through a boxing forum. and like him, it's because you're an armchair fan and haven't tested yourself enough in real life.

look - you seem to be quite a nice guy but you're allegiances are misguided probably because you've followed joe for so long.

but making heroes of people when they should be inspirations for what you can do instead is a poor way to live your life.

    just good advice my friend.

I have a long time GF, a child , a degree and a healthy social life. My child is autistic and i have faced more than enough challenges in my life. You also seem a nice person but you come across as very arrogant in the way you sound like you beleive you know what people are like irl. Ive told you before i actually prefer people like Froch. When people make balanced views on calzaghe i will stop correcting them. I am the first to say calzaghe had big flaws in his attitude and resume but on the flip side i also have the ability to see he was extremly skilled and that OTHERS including Hopskins also ducked him.

    i respect that. i do.

so don't assume i'm ignorant just because i see things and have lived different to you, okay?

    it's the same thing.

i'll never have a long time girlfriend or kids, i'm not qualified for anything - but iv'e also faced challenges like you have even though they are polar opposites to yours.

DON'T wait until someone calls you out on yours before you're able to reflect on what you say and realise you're passing the same judgments..even though you don't like them.

yeah i am arrogant. i admit that. but i'm not a fool and i'm not out of touch with people.

i wasn't judging you for never having fought in yuor life. i was judging you for calling me ignorant when i have, yet you have the audacity to call me ignorant talking about a fighter that gets your allegiance from the dirt he was born on rather than a larger understanding

    maybe you're right ;)

arrogance isn't necessarily a bad thng by the way. so long as you can back it up.

EDIT : it's a great way of testing your limits..and testing your limits is not a bad thing so long as you have purpose behind it.
