Another reason UFC is beating boxing (From a fan perspective)

Can you provide the same numbers for boxing? I'm just curious.

 

to some extent yes...because the soviet system did allow professionals...but beyond that, boxing was a sport largely of african americans...they where just poor enough to be tough and willing to take punches, but not in a postion that they had to work 16 hours a day..or starving (like many in africa) hence america did dominate. however, i feel that in brazil and russia espically, you have the best possible enviorment for making mma fighters....yet so few of them are in the ufc

We need current numbers because the debate began with the present status of boxing vs. MMA in terms of popularity. As you admitted yourself, UFC is expanding internationally. You have to remember, MMA is still in its infancy when compared to boxing. It's not even legal in all states rights now.

 

How accurate can that list be when a former UFC heavyweight Arlovski wasn't even listed?

 

i think it was made of "current" ufc fighters..or anyone on the ufc website at the time the guy did that..they likely had taken Arlovski off because he had jumped ship. their may be a few guys not as big name...who where no longer ufc..but still listed, because ufc brass didnt catch it.

 

i think dana is trying to expand his brand into other markets..hence he needs more non american fighters..hence he is signing more non americans..but its still largely a american organization. I mean..honestly...UFC bought pride..yet all but a few of the fighters went into the UFC...why is that? could it have something to do with nationality?
