Certainly, the Super 6 organizers encounter at least another problem regarding the Kessler`s retreat : the WBC belt. If they don`t get the belt into Froch-Abraham fight, the Super Six winner will have no more belts than either of Kessler, Bute or Stieglitz. Considering Ward won against Kessler, if he win the tourney he will be considered No. 1 of the 168 BUT NOT UNDISPUTED CHAMPION, especially if Bute stays undefeated. Many people were considering (before the retreat of K.) that Ward would have had a clearely advantage over Bute in the eventuality of match after tournement, especially due to the two belts. Now, given the new situation, Ward (or other winner) would have just two tougher matches ahead added to his resume, if Bute will meet and defeat in Montreal two exiters until then.
It was always possible that the belts could leave the super 6 anyway. Before Kessler and Green were out of the super 6, if Froch were to beat Abraham and Green were to outpoint Kessler, and Dirrell was to beat Ward, then Green and Kessler would have the least points and leave the super 6 with Green as WBC champ. As it is, ive heard that Kessler is hoping to become WBC champ emeritus and let Froch and Abraham fight for the vacant title, but ive not heard if thats a definate yet.
this. you don't need belts to work out who the best in the division is. becoming an "undisputed champ" is just unrealistic nowadays
Isnt the the WBC all ready a corrupt? The belt will go for the Froch - Abraham fight. Money for the WBC. And Froch and Abraham have one more thing to fight for. Hoping Abraham can become a 2 division champ ^^
atschSee this is where the problem is in boxing. On the one hand you, rightly, state the WBC is corrupt but, on the other hand, will happily proclaim Abraham a two division "champ" for holding their piece of tin.
You won't say that if your a pro boxer and after dropping it you get 10-20 % paycheck cut and have to fight in your opponents home town.
