Tarver knew how to fight Jones because they met as amateurs and Tarver followed his career, but it's mostly a case of getting Jones at the right time. There are a few periods in their bouts where you can see Roy briefly capture his old form and it's enough to see that Tarver didn't have much of an answer.

They fight a couple of years earlier and Roy probably outpoints him 8-4 or so.

Going just from guys I know fairly well from my lifetime, I'd say Bowe and Ibeabuchi are the biggest examples at heavyweight.

Hearns is already great, and had some other holes in his game besides his chin, (which everyone fixates on, sometimes too much so) but with an iron chin he would have been an absolute machine and even more of a terror than he was. Given the time in which he was fighting and the guys he might have beat, he could have sailed into the top 10 of all time.

A few others like Naz or Judah had great physical talent but either because they were off mentally, too lazy, or lacked certain fundamentals they would never have been as great as some of their fans like to think.

Deserves it. Dude was unreal, and he did it constantly. When he had 3 times as many fights as Mayweather he had only one loss, while facing a lot of really tough guys at Welter and Middle. Doing it that long, that consistently, without having an off night or a case where a guy gets you with a lucky punch says a lot.

Would probably hold titles, but wouldn't have a chance of dominating the way they do. Particularly Wlad, with his chin issues and some of the bombers that were around, would suffer.

Not quite. My opinion is that by that point Oscar realized he had no chance. If he tried really hard he might have made it to his feet, but he decided he couldn't win and cut his losses.

Don't know Wolfe well enough to say. Is she the one who KO'd the other woman then danced over her while she was on the canvas?

De La Hoya. I despised the turd and celebrated whenever he lost, but he deserved to win that fight.

So far he looks legit. I think it's accurate to say he belongs near the top of the p4p top 10 list at the moment, but those putting in fantasy matches with ATGs, especially at middleweight, are at best jumping the gun and at worst are ****ing delusional.

First off, I think in recent years Frazier has put some of that aside. I'm somewhat divided on this issue. Me, personally, I wouldn't still be holding onto it in his place, but he's entitled to feel how he wants to. I do think some people make too much of what went on, although I also think Ali labeling Joe an Uncle Tom was going too far. (Apparently according to Joe in the Facing Ali movie, he didn't even know what an Uncle Tom was at first and thought Ali was calling him a peeping Tom).

Ali sometimes went a step too far with Joe, Joe held onto it far more than he needed to. In my opinion.

Like #2 I'm just going to go with guys I've seen in my own time and know well, and nominate Winky Wright and Aaron Pryor.

]Got a surprisingly good response from the last survey, so here's another one for all those who love to discuss even the most obscure and irrelevant topics...

    1. Did Tarver have Roy's number, or did he just get to him at the right time? Both

    2. No. 1 "Could Have been great" fighter of all time? Camacho

    3. SRR at #1 on the vast majority of ATG lists - "safe pick" or deserves to be there? Deserves to be there.

    4. The Klits in the 90s - champs or bums? bums

    5. Did Oscar take a dive vs Hopkins? No

    6. Hits harder: Anne Wolfe or Paulie Malignaggi? (seriously) Wolfe

    7. Immediate De La Hoya-Trinidad re-match: who woulda won? De La Hoya

    8. Is Sergio Martinez overrated? Maybe among boxing fans. Underrated everywhere else. Casual fans never heard of him and by first look, they think Pacquiao and Floyd would destroy him.

    9. Frazier still resentful towards Ali - should he be? 35 friggin years ago. Let it go. Your legacy is still set in stone.

    10. High risk, low reward GOAT?[/quote] Winky
