first of all good fight.........pavlik and jermain both fought a good fight but in the 2nd rnd when pavlik was out on his feet the ref gave the challenger all the time in the world to get back in the fight.....but when the champion got hurt in the 7th the ref jumped in right away and called the fight and didnt give him time to come back.......i dont think he would of but he deserved the chance to come back like he gave pavlik in the 2nd.....im not taking anything from pavlik bc hes a good fighter and deserves what he has now but i think he should of given taylor a chance.........cant wait for the rematch p.s. brooklyn good call on pavlik tko7:good jermain needs to keep the god damn left hand up.....both sold chins
the difference was kelly never went out. watch the fight again and watch when kelly starts landing and as JT was slumped on the ropes Kelly landed another big left and JT's hands fell to his side like he was completely out for a sec. That is when smoger jumped in *and rightfully so*. Kelly didn't have that moment where he looked out. that's why smoger let him go on.
Thanks It definitely was a great fight...both guys showed a lot of heart and determination. In a way, Jermain showed more in defeat than he did in his last 2 wins. Pavlik was badly hurt in round 2 and if Jermain was a better finisher, Pavlik would have been stopped. To be honest, I really thought he was going to get stopped. However, Pavlik stuck to his gameplan and pressured Taylor effectively. He got stronger as the fight progressed and his jab was really getting in during the mid rounds. When he knocked down Taylor, Smoger could have started a count, but I don't think it would have made a difference. He wasn't getting up. Overall, a great night of boxing and there promises to be a lot more to come this year.
Yea taylor's shoulders and legs just collapsed after kelly's last punch landed, he was out cold no way he was getting up or even trying to. Come on guys taylor should already have atleast four losses on his record, props to kelly form not giving the judges a chance to rob him of a victory, his fist were the only judge he needed
i can all see that he was in danger to not continue the fight but i think he should of given him the count to see how he managed.....imo it prolly would of stopped anyway but i think they should of started the count to see how he got up and went on
idk why people say that about he should have all those losses and he will always win on points.......he kept all the fights close and i personally thought he won all the fights he has been in besides pavlik now but saying he got lucky in those fights is ridiculous
Neither Hopkins fight or the Wright fight was a robbery...you can make a case Jermain won all 3 fights.
i can see this. if smoger would've started the count and got to 8 he could then have asked JT if he wanted to continue and make his judgement at that point. JT may have wanted to continue or not but smoger would've still had the right to call the fight then. So i see what your saying.
Fact is Jermain was not getting up from them shots no matter what happened, if he did Pavlik wouldda stop him anyways, so dont start making excuses. I dont see how weight is an issue, same thing will happen next time.
