Just wanted to make a general thread dedicated to Moreno. . . How you feel about his skills, and his chances of becoming a solidified pound for pounder. . . Future opponents. . . Any weaknesses. . . How many weight classes can he win a belt in? In general, I LOVE watching this guy box. . . He's one of those rare defensive minded guys, who manages to be exciting, and generate decent punch output. The way he rolls with punches, and catches shots with his elbows, gloves, and forearms is brilliant! How do you feel about him vs. Mares @ 122?! I think it's a 50/50 fight because Mares is pretty solid defensively, is just as fleet of hand and foot, and is one of hte last true combination punchers. . . He has that awkward head movement, and comes in at all kinds of angles with combinations... ALWAYS letting the hands go in combinations! BREAK IT DOWN!
It seems that not too many people appreciate the boxing skill of Chemito Moreno. I'm not one of them. Mr. Moreno impressed the hell out of me when I saw the technique he uses in the ring. The man has some serious boxing skill and I became a fan after watching his last fight. Mares is pretty solid and I really can't call it. Mares is a overall good fighter but Moreno has amazing boxing skill. I think it would be a tough fight that maybe Mares would pull away on top. I could be wrong but I'm interested in seeing how they both handle themselves come saturday night.
i watched his 1st fight with Cermeno and it was really close. Cermeno could have easily won that fight. I heard Cermeno got robbed in the rematch but haven't found any video yet. Overall though, yes Chemito is a classy fighter, looking forward to his fight this weekend. He should outbox De La Mora.
Good discussion so far! Chemito vs. Mares @ 122? Such a close fight, and an excellent mesh of styles!
As I've said before on here, he is actually right aroun #10 on MY PERSONAL P4P list. Guy is seriuosly impressive.
I like Moreno, has the style to be a force at 122.Took Vic to school on his last fight. Moreno vs Mares sounds good, but I'll give Mares the edge.
too bad he's in an unheralded division even among boxing fans, because had he been a welterweight naturally, he'd be hailed as one of the finest pure boxers in the sport, with a generous bag of tricks up his sleeve.
I don't get the whole disrespect, and lack of attention for the smaller guys. . . Personally bantamweight is one of my favorite weight classes. . Those little dudes can straight BANG IT OUT!!!
I agree. I dont know where it comes from either. the lower weight classes produce way more great fights on average.
yeah.... "Panamian" was gonna get crushed by Vic... Instead, he ended up straight up out-classing Vic altogether Gonna have to say one of the slipperiest snakes in boxing... Top-notch defense and composure. Good punching ability. Definitely a solid A caliber fighter, i think one of the most under-rated fighters still... Personally, i have him as the #1 pending Bantamweight... and i think he'd take Mares in a UD
No doubt Moreno can box like mad, but DDLM made a huge fan out of me with his effort as an unheralded challenger on the road against Koki Kameda. IMO, Kameda got a gift decision. It's good to see De La Mora get a deserved second chance at world level so soon after. Moreno is obviously the favorite to win on points, but I suspect DDLM will put up a persuasive argument to make it close. If Moreno dominates, my esteem and appreciation for him will go way up.
I've only seen him twice but I was VERY impressed. He has the rare natural defensive reflexes and awareness that you just can't teach. I don't know if he could do enough eye-catching work offensively to outpoint Mares though.
