According to boxing, Moreno had a fine career and was a good fighter also, he was the longest reigning champion bantamweight champion in history.
Probably third best Panamanian below lightweight in the modern era behind Pelenchin and El Nica (the latter arguable)...fifth all-time factoring in Al Brown and Durán. Definitely top 15 p4p in his country all-time, maybe even upper 10 range.
Moreno's entire career was fairly surreal, including plenty of inexcusable and otherwordly poor cards.
I can see him wearing that straw hat he used to wear into the ring and fishing his days away, enjoying the good life that boxing has afforded him. He was enjoyable to watch fight and I was impressed with his win over Darchinyan years ago before his unfortunate streak of losses.
He's had a good career and deserves to go out with his health intact. Always enjoyed watching him box, probably the closest to a modern Pernell Whitaker IMO with shades of his fellow countryman Hilario Zapata. His loss to Abner Mares definitely derailed his chances to get bigger fights. Such a shame, would have loved to see him against Donaire or even Rigondeaux.
