Terrible officiating the ref deducts a pts from Moreno for a called low blow that was clean. Chacon pressed and again was hurt badly to the body and stunned with the heavy right hooks to the head that Moreno disguised as body shots. Moreno unloaded on him with rights and lefts body and head after the initial surged and pretty much manhandled him the rest of the round

    10 - 9 (-1pt moreno) 9 - 9 Moreno
    99 - 88 Moreno

    Round 11

Moreno is firing left hands on the body and moving left. Long, deeply bent right hooks by Moreno. Chacon is stepping in with his arms held up but neither defending himself adequately nor taking initiative. Moreno throws combos making Chacon wilt. Right jabs and left uppercuts by Moreno, scoring in bunches and backing out. The referee grabs Moreno and pulls his trunks up forcibly, then signaling for the action to continue. Moreno is jabbing and hooking with his right backing up, making oblique contact, nothing clean, but also catching all of Chacon's left jabs on the slant of his bicep.

    10-9 Moreno

    109-97 Moreno

Moreno having his way. A hard left to the body sends Chacon crying and trying to beg the ref again for a penalty. Moreno jumps on him with a right and the ref breaks and issues a command that I don't understand. They resume and Moreno just boxes and moves with him, targeting the body hard with right hooks and lefts and Chacon is no longer pressing hard.

    10 - 9 Moreno
    109 - 97 Moreno

    Round 12

Moreno is knocked down by an accidental headbutt. He gets up and seems a bit dizzied. Moreno stumbles into the ropes. Chacon presses forward and waves his left arm, getting Moreno to flick right jabs at the decoy as Chacon looks to whip in right hands around the side once the still-bleary Moreno is trapped on the ropes. Moreno still has just enough presence of mind and nimbleness to stay off the ropes, pushing off the balls of his feet and countering with jabs, leaning in against Chacon for a rest and then shoving off with his right arm. Right hook and left hand combo by Moreno, landing on the back and top of Chacon's head. A burst of firepower by Chacon in the last ten seconds looking to keep Moreno on the ropes, but most of it gets slipped and dodged.

    10-9 Moreno

    119-106 Moreno

Chacon comes charging out trying to make somethign happen, he can't find Moreno. The upper body movement is on point, he is rolling, slipping, and dodging his work and banging him hard to the body or simply side stepping away or stepping in and smothering him. 1 minute left and Chacon is dead tired and Moreno simply lands nice sharp lefts to the body as he comes in and that is the most of it.

    10 - 9 Moreno
    119 - 106 Moreno

He was the WBA #11 contender, somehow.

I scored the main event for Moreno, 11-1 rounds, 118-107 points. The 2nd round was 10-7 to Moreno for two official knockdowns (even though I'm sure the first was actually a slip), Chacon won the 8th, and the 10th was 9-9 because of the bogus point deduction against Moreno for an alleged low blow. Moreno boxed masterfully, he had his jab, straight left, hooks, and bolo punches all working sharply and effectively to head and body, usually in combination, with a good workrate and high landing rates. He moved his head and upper body very well, to disguise his own punches and defend against Chacon's, and he constantly moved around the ring to set up angles and make Chacon work hard to find him. Chacon did surprise me with his game effort; after the 1st round (when he barely threw a punch), he was the one moving forward, and he initiated his share of exchanges. But most of his punches were wild lunging headhunting power shots, lefts and rights, really no technique involved; Moreno was able to defend and avoid most of them, but Chacon connected with enough to win the 8th, and make both the 10th and 12th close, albeit in the 12th Moreno was on his bicycle until the closing seconds. Chacon annoyed with his constant complaining to referee Mora about various perceived infractions by Moreno, who did occasionally use his forearm in defense but otherwise fought cleanly; too bad Mora kept falling for it, most notably the bogus point deduction in the 10th for an alleged low blow (clearly a clean body shot) solely on the basis of Chacon's complaint. Overall, this was a reasonably entertaining fight, and it was good to see the classy Moreno back in action. But as I posted earlier in this thread, Moreno is FAR too good to be stuck with fights like this, he NEEDS to make something big happen in his career. It would be so good if Showtime could get him back on their network, he deserves it.
