Darchinyan probably loses in a competitive one. He's a notch below at bantamweight. Moreno's not that great either, and loses to Kong and the ballbuster, let alone Donaire.
Moreno is the better boxer of the four he just doesn't have any power which hurts him going against Nonito etc
While this is a refreshing break from all the bad blood left clotting and festering from last night...I fully expect the styles clash here to make this an incredibly ugly scrap (best case) and possibly even quite boring (worst case). It's hard to get too excited about this one...especially when there's a true bantamweight war headlining the same card in the rematch... I tend to agree - Vic has been on the slide for quite some time and less effective after moving up, and while Moreno isn't a world beater he can probably keep Darchinyan's power connects to a manageable minimum and can probably stand up to just enough shots to eke out a win that Aussies & Armenians will cry about but the rest of us will consider perfectly fair, in a contest that may see both get a bit down 'n' dirty.
:deal I just wanted to change the debate about Pac and Marquez every 2 second a new post about the them lol
I think I want Darchinyan to win too much and haven't seen enough of Moreno to give you a good opinion.
VD really does need a big win at this stage of his career. A loss pretty much ends his run. Upsetting Perez gave him some good momentum but this would squash it. (the Mbamba mismatch doesn't count for much - and if anything it counts against Darchinyan for not being able to produce a knockout for his home fans despite having massive physical superiority over the opponent)
:good If I were a coach, I'd be patterning my kids' behaviors in the ring after Joe's rather than Anselmo's (DEFINITELY not after Yonnhy's, Vic's, or Abner's )
We will have to see cause Moreno hasn't had a chance to fight the top guys lets see what he can do...
How about this: Say Darchinyan does score the upset KO (and it would probably have to be a KO...and it would be an upset, even though the betting odds may not necessarily have it that way due to Vic's recent pair of course-correctors...) Where does that leave him? Poised for a unification rematch with the bantamweight tournament winner? If it's Mares, that's one thing - but if it's King Kong, is there any point? Agbeko's win over him was fairly convincing (and not as close as a couple of the cards) and since then the winner has garnered some world class experience and polish & improved, while the loser has been seeming to get worse and worse with the exception of the flattering beatdown of face-blocking Perez. A Donaire rematch is even MORE pointless. Granted, they're all big money propositions if Vic is ready to just cash out... I just don't think he can beat any of those three at this point (no matter how he looks against Moreno, up to and including a thrashing/highlight-reel knockout) Does he move up to super bantam and try his luck at a title with even further diminished power?
To me Vic is done and damage goods... If he moves up in weight he will get KTFO by tops guys IMO. I think if Moreno wins he should get shot to fight the Champ and I doubt Nonito is going to stay at this weight for long so who knows if Nonito will fight any of these guys again....
