I scored the fight for Escandon, 8-4 rounds, 116-112 points, I had Cermeno sweeping rounds 4-7, and gave Escandon everything else. This fight was basically the shorter, more compact, more powerful Escandon being the more aggressive, stalking Cermeno with his superior ring generalship, working to get inside to work the body and head of Cermeno. In contrast, Cermeno was backing up for almost the entire fight, though he had his best success in rounds 4-7 working from distance, outlanding Escandon by potshotting his head from distance, using his greater height and superior reach to advantage in those rounds. To be sure, several rounds were very close, but I thought Escandon clearly won this fight, his ring generalship, aggressiveness, and harder punches carrying the fight. Since Cermeno resides in Panama (albeit born in Venezuela), I think there was a hometown decision at play here.
