Anthony Bellew v David Deron Haye - 17th December

Haye could do with losing 10lbs of muscle to move faster these days. He'd just need to come off gear (obviously using as you can see from gyno in last fight).

 

Only deluded hero-worshipping Haye fanboys like yourself think that.

Before the fight it was all "Haye will KO him with a jab", "Won't last more than 4 rounds", "No excuses". It's all pretty much a metaphor for Haye's entire career at heavyweight, a lot of woulda, shoulda, coulda, but no substance. If it's not his toe it's his leg, if it's not his leg it's because he didn't train properly or it's because he didn't pace himself.

Bellew predicted exactly how the fight was going to go, he was going to box him in the earlier rounds (which he did a fine job of) and take him out late in the fight and that's EXACTLY what happened. How anyone can not give credit to a fight who executes his gameplan perfectly speaks volumes.

It's a good job Haye pulled out of those two fights with Tyson Fury as that would have been the end of him and he never would have had the chance to pull himself out of bankruptcy with these Bellew paydays.

It's also very fortunate that he wasn't around as this Crusierweight tournament was being held as he never would have had a career at HW in the first place.

I fully expect to see Haye back in the jungle or Big Brother within the next 2-3 years along with Eubank Jr and Khan most likely.

 

I'm not his Dr, so couldn't say. I thought his extra weight gave him a lot more power than when fighting at 210-214 though.

 

Bad and unfair statement to make. Care to tell us when Haye has failed a drug test??

 

And actually I think he could do with losing some body fat, he was nowhere near as cut as for previous fights, couldn’t even see his abs in the ring.

I state the truth.
I have no personal problem with Haye. I actually admire the way he's maximized his earning potential at heavyweight. I don't begrudge him an ounce of his money and success. And I admire how he's kept gullible mugs like you on board with him.
He's an intelligent man, and probably a decent man in his private life too. I have no reason to dislike him.

But from a pure boxing/sporting perspective, his whole act is blatantly open to criticism.

Yeah it was funny stuff even if it all sounded a bit desperate.

 

I suspect some of the "Haye fanboys" here are of a certain age where they were young and impressionable back in the early (promising) days of Haye's prime and have never really come to terms with the huge gulf between the Haye propaganda and the reality of his post-CW career.
There's a strong emotional attachment there for some people here, clearly, despite being otherwise suitably sceptical about boxing and boxers in general.
It's a clear case of denial.

Haye's career took a huge turn when he confronted Wladimir on the escalator at the Excel back in 2008. Haye chose to fast track himself into a heavyweight star back then with the outside-the-ring theatricals, and I'm sure it made him great deal of money. But at the same time he decided to take the route of least resistance in the actual business of competitive fighting, and he's achievements at heavyweight lagged increasingly behind the publicity - and to a point now where it's become totally pathetic.
