Anthony Bellew v David Deron Haye - 17th December

I agree with the thread starter and the timing is deliberate and is Haye putting pressure on Bellew to sign.

Knowing the public would overwhelmingly prefer to see Haye/Bellew2 than Parker vs Bellew

Bellew will likely want to see if Parker wins as that fight (Parker/Bellew) has clearly been lined up and Parker did enthusiastically say in his interview with IFLTV that he would be ready to fight again in Dec.

 

yeah if it was on saturday there would have been too many cards on, friday and saturday night boxing is perfect.

Looks like winner will face winner of Parker v Fury for HW title,maybe this is what DH was talking about as the final chapter of his career.Would Rather seen Frampton sign for Matchroom and put him in a ppv in December but if 900 thousand bought this hypefest because of a fake feud they will do it again.Wouldnt be suprised of a trilogy.

 

All for it. Last fight was fun even before the injury. Both took some solid shots. Have kell brook on undercard + rest of match room ppv undercard fighters and it'll be worthwhile.

 

doesn't rule out frampton signing with matchroom, maybe frampton could co feature. Frampton isnt like joshua and a ppv star on his own, he needs a good opponent to be a ppv fighter, like 99% of fighters (exluding AJ, Mayweather etc)

 

completely agree, i think people just tend to dislike a fight when hearn is involved and when it is likely to end up on ppv, but like you said the first fight was intriguing whichever way you look at it and there is unfinished business, both are loud mouths so an interesting build up and a lot of trash talk is likely.

 

Haye best get back on the juice ASAP. He's shrunk ridiculously. Must be at least 3 stone lighter.

You all called it a joke and a mismatch and I bet (correct me if I'm wrong) the only stated reason you paid to see it was because you "don't like Bellew, want to see him get destroyed" (and perhaps unstated :because you'd NEVER miss a Haye fight because he's your favourite).

Meanwhile, Bellew said "Haye's body will break down, he's finished".

As it happens, you didn't get to see "that twat" Bellew get destroyed by your favourite, and true to form, Haye's wrecked body broke down, like Bellew said it would.

Haye lost. But that's okay. The injury is a good excuse and let's hate on Bellew some more for having the cheek to believe his win was legit .....

.... and you'll be hoping this joke fight part 2 will be Haye destroying Bellew, which I really wouldn't count on.

Aside from that, we have a couple of average heavyweights being sold as PPV material based on some very strange reasoning (fame ? "beef ? **** knows what ?) ...... a fat second-rate cruiserweight against a guy who'll be lucky to make it through a training camp and into the ring without breaking a bone or ripping a tendon.

This fight is LEGIT only because it will sell.
Like I said in the other thread (BJS v Khan), it's the JOKE FIGHTS that sell.
And you will all keep buying them.

Would love to see Brook on the undercard, they need to match him carefully for a couple of fights now to get his confidence back and to see how he is at 154. Another eye injury and his career his over.

 

He should keep some of it off too if he wants to last 12 rounds. He's way too heavy at 16 stone.

I'm excited about the fight, I know @Unforgiven won't be happy with me saying that though. I think Haye's injury robbed Bellew of a rightful win in the first fight. Up to round 6, Haye was winning the fight on the scorecards from his ring generalship and effective aggression but he was missing a lot and getting countered imo. I thought the scores didn't reflect Bellew's defence but this is all subjective. Coldwell had a plan to take him to the later rounds and finish him. Mayweather was apparently a master for doing that to McGregor but Bellew is a fat, gobby scouser and nobody is going to give him the credit for effectively doing the same thing (taking the bigger man to deep waters).

Some of the same issues are there still for me. I was calling a Bellew win before the first fight for a number of reasons including his prolonged inactivity on top of a shoulder reconstruction and his age. Add to that that he no longer has that devastating speed and timing. I can only see Bellew (who will come in a bit lighter this time) TKO'ing him again.

 

No, I don't begrudge anyone here there enjoyment and if Haye-Bellew brings it to you all, that's fair enough.

But in strict boxing terms, this is a joke fight for PPV, a bargain basement fight. Let's be consistent.
This might be worthy of an undercard or a British title eliminator (my Southern Area Title analogy was off, since Bellew is a northerner !), but to be sold as a pay-per-view or something meaningful in the world heavyweight scene is ridiculous.

For David Haye's own sake, I hope he does lose. That will make him see sense and quit this game for good. If he wins he's probably going to string along for a few more fights, maybe a few wins, and a few more losses, and it won't be pretty. God forbid they put him in with someone heavyweight and real and dangerous because the days when he can dodge and dive for 12 poor rounds and see the final bell (ala against WK several years ago) are long over.

Ironically he's ending up like the Ruiz's, Harrisons, Barretts and Valuevs that he made his inflated reputation, just an old has-been being lined up for a beating.

He'll get off lightly if it's just another stoppage loss to Bellew.

 

Agreed. I'd love to see a 15 stone quick a f**k Haye. That's the way to beat Bellew the scouse the bear.

I still can't believe anyone classes Bellew's win over Haye as legitimate. It baffles me. Haye could barely move let alone throw a punch after the injury occurred.
