Anthony Bellew v David Deron Haye - 17th December

Oh dear...the easy win for Haye talk has started again.

Are we going to disregard that on top of the fact Haye 3.0 has had his shoulder reconstructed, that age and inactivity has taken the edge off his timing, speed and power...that he’s also coming back from a ruptured achilles’ tendon?

 

Bellew made Haye look very slow and ponderous, he timed him very nicely during the early rounds and Haye was just swinging wildly.

Haye needs to adapt and get this idea out of his head that he can knock Bellew out easily, I think this will be a very different fight.

 

Haha, it sort of ended up being right in the end. Did anyone put a ruptured achilles?

 

This will be an easy nights work for Haye so long as he fights the right fight (sticks to the jab and wears Bellew down, and doesnt look for an explosive KO), and so long as he prepares in the right way (has a low key training camp and concentrates on movement)

However given Haye's recent terrible injury record and his blow out against Bellew, who knows whether he can even get through rounds without breaking down again?

You would have to lay off on the Haye KO in this fight, because it is the most likely result.

 

Not going to be easy unless he has some how got much faster footwork and faster hands as even early on looked a shadow of his old self. Tony looked faster than he did.

 

Haye is shot to pieces. Bellew wins again, probably an earlier stoppage.

 

Agree with this but still a two legged Haye beats Bellew if he fights smartly. If he tries to just throw bombs he will lose

 

I'm more concerned whether Haye gets through a full camp without getting injured. His body is broken

 

When will these older fighters learn. On paper its an easy win for haye....but on that paper hayes still rated as the guy that smashed ruiz, mcarranelli etc.

You dont go back in the ring with a world champion straight away...regardless if hes a weight lower...if you ve been inactive, got a new trainer, ageing and injury prone regardless how much better you used to be than him.

Its allright saying haye was outboxing him but we still had a lot of rounds to go...plus bellews gameplan was pretty much take him late anyway. At hayes age regardless of how hard hes supposedly training theres no substitute for fighting. Needs to rebuild properly. The only explanation for it is haye was injured in the first fight prior to entering the ring or its pretty much over for him. Timing/speed etc gone. Even having the power was pointless...you could see his hayemakers coming a mile away. Haye needs to decide weather he wants one last serious crack at it or hes just here for the money and in danger of becoming the new audley harrison.

Needs to stop chasing the money and take rebuilding fights. Start slow. Get back to enjoying it again. What happens is these older guys get put to the test too early...injuries give way...or they mentally dont need it enough...then start to unravel. Go down the george foremann route. Get out often. Fighting every oppertunity. Briggs could have also made a serious go of it. Just became too inactive....by chasing the money too soon.

And thats coming from a man that backed haye heavily to not only beat bellew the first time with ease but also beat joshua.

 

Not if Bellew gets knocked out early. If Haye wins impressively he will say he wants AJ

 

Haye if he wins will have 1 maybe 2 more big fights, this is all about maximizing his chance to make big money, the holywood actor plan didn't work so if he can bank 10-15 possibly 20 million and be smart with it he is set for life.

 

Reading between the lines here, Haye is going back to basics and will take a more measured approach this time. Jab and move, then let the KO come by itself.

Should be a good fight - certainly not the one sided fight some predict although Haye needs the right gameplan. As above, the measured approach, back to basics, not to force it and the stoppage should come naturally.
