BIG RIGHT HAND by Simmons! Anthony's stunned but comes right back jabbing high and looking to hold. Simmons pumps his jab, blocked. Anthony bows his head and rushes in, trying to land something up top before grabbing at the end of the collision. Right hands by Anthony are just groping without taking measure, missing Simmons' head. Anthony is put in the corner with a 1-2 and tries to fight his way out when Simmons slows down and guards up. Anthony is hunching up and rolling back into a corner as Simmons pours on the 1-2. Right hands go over Anthony's head as Simmons can't seem to drop his plane of attack to find him.

Round 6

Anthony is going for it, hooking up high and pushing out line drive rights. Good right to the body by Anthony. Solid, strong punches by Anthony coming forward. Simmons isn't throwing anything, just staying tall and blocking. A few jabs now by Simmons. BIG right hand. Anthony's back on the ropes. Anthony surges forward and smacks the body with a low right! Another! Simmons is straightened up and guarding. Simmons hops along to his left, repositioning. Anthony lands body shots and grabs Simmons about the waist as though going for a waltz dip. Big right hands by Anthony crashing into the guard as Simmons comes forward and misses his own rights high over that bowed head. Lots of hugging. Jab to the body by Anthony, countered high by Simmons.

Matthew Hall gets a modicum of love from his humble Mancunian contingent.

He looks in good shape, although his mental state is up for questioning as he's lost three of four and retired/unretired a couple of times in the last few years.

 

Scottish southpaw Kris Carslaw is 14-0 with a mere three knockouts. He's looking to use Hall as a stepping stone in this British 154lb title eliminator, set for 10x3.

Huge reception for the Paisley man from the Motherwell crowd, drowning out Hall's cheering section.

 

Round 1

Hall walks forward with his gloves pinned to his temples as Carslaw dances around and stuffs right jabs and straight/looping lefts into his face. Lots of movement from Carslaw, and some switching to orthodox to keep Hall confused with some left jabs. Hall gets in close and tries to drub the body, bringing his arms clanging up toward the head but caught up on the arms. Carslaw is shoved back into a corner and ripped with a left hook to the body, but gets right back to flitting about and keeping Hall spinning. Hall bashes with a left hook down low but hits elbow. Right hand to the body, blocked as well. Low shoeshine by Carslaw. Now a right uppercut. Carslaw backs up and starts to circle left, tapping at the body. Good right hand by Hall pushes Carslaw back to the ropes, landing on the forehead.

Round 2

Hall is pushing on, trying to roll his head around Carslaw's jabs. Carslaw is willingly getting steered to the ropes and flashing his hands out with very little zip on them. Good right hand by Hall. They lean together and push into each other with their forearms and elbows. Right hand over the top by Carslaw out of the orthodox stance. Hall lands a body shot. Carslaw lands two softer ones. Right hand through the gloves by Hall. Double left hook to the body by Hall. They lean together again. Swatting left hook by Hall, catches the ear of Carslaw as he moves off. Solid right hand to the face by Hall. Hard combos up top by Hall, getting blocked. Uppercut by Carslaw. Body shots by Hall. Still leaned in close together. Another uppercut by Carslaw. Overhand by Hall. Big left hook by Hall.

Round 3

Hall butts his head up against Carslaw's chest and wails away with body shots. Carslaw backs up and shoots his fists out high at the shielded and down-turned head of Hall. Trading body shots, Hall presses forward and Carslaw hurries back. Left hook to the body by Hall, reaching out and getting a piece. Carslaw gets his left arm twisted up and over his back while leaning in. They trade soft short uppercut. Hall puts a bit more on a pair and backs Carslaw up. Left hook to the body by Hall coming forward to trap Carslaw on the ropes. Carslaw runs off to the side. Several right jabs by Carslaw, slipped by head bobs from Hall. BIG left rip to the body by Hall. Stiff jab snaps Carslaw's head back

Round 4

Hall comes forward and flurries around Carslaw's upper arms, landing on the back of the ribcage and at the armpit. Carslaw now flurries back to get off the ropes, aiming mostly between the eyes. Hall is bobbing and ducking, avoiding jabs and lefts while applying pressure. Good body shots by Hall, knocking Carslaw to the ropes. They tie up, arms entwined as Carslaw tries to rap his knuckles on Hall's belly. Big left hook to the body by Hall. Another tie up, thumbs-by-the-throat Muay Thai clinch style. Carslaw misses a big right hand as Hall ducks and comes up with a left hook that sends Carslaw fleeing. Body shots traded back and forth at mid range, and Hall punctuates the exchange with a big left hook upstairs. Clinch against the ropes. Right hand by Hall, and a left hook.
