I'll have to check out Gvozdyk's recent fights. I mentioned that David won't need to cut weight and that may be beneficial but I also see it as him losing a pretty substantial advantage that he had at 168. Some guys that impose themselves physically for their division don't travel up in weight well. I also wonder if he can maintain the pace he sets and have the volume while being 7 pounds heavier. Never have been the highest on Benavides in all honesty despite him having a fun fighting style. I just like this fight a lot on paper

I really, really hope you're right. Nothing against Benavidez but I've rooted for Gvozdyk from day one against absolutely everyone.

What worries me is whether Gvozdyk is coming to win. I agree with your analysis but the big assumption is that Gvozdyk is going to try to win. If he doesn't train properly or isn't very motivated, he'll get outworked or even stopped.

Hopefully watching Usyk defeat Fury will motivate him that little bit extra, like it seems to have done for Denys Berinchyk.

When people say "UFC does it better than boxing because the best fight the best"....mention this match. It could be a real barnburner. Should be.

I still think Benavidez is being overrated a bit.. His power looks good and solid and he is strong sort of like Margarito was at welterweight, but not with that opposition. People are making him a bigger deal than they should by his resume. I think Canelo would stop him in the late rounds.

all fighters get landed on cleanly, in almost every fight. at least at world level. im looking at how they ride those shots out. hes gotten hit by hard enough punchers to tell you if his chin is weak. can he be knocked out? of course, just like any other tough guy, but its gonna take some punishment, or a perfect shot. i don't think gvodzyk can deliver either.

Gvozdyk was my favorite light heavyweight for a while but he’s definitely not the same fighter anymore. His speed and reflexes are down the drain, and it looks like he’s just relying on his fundamentals and power nowadays. I think Benavidez should win at this point.

I fully expect he'll show up, and oddly enough I think he'll be divinely or should I say... gingerly inspired. See... based one of the few things about Oleksandr that genuinely annoys me, for some inexplicable reason, Gvozdyk is very fond of Canelo Alvarez, and spars with and shills for him frequently. So nothing would please both Canelo and The Nail more, than to take Benavidez out of the equation for a Canelo fight. In fact, it wouldn't shock me in the least if we found out behind the scenes that this was a low level hit job of Benavidez's 0 being taken out by Canelo and PBC. So if his driving motivation is to please a friend, taking all emotion off of the table, like an assassin, that could produce an extra mean and methodical Gvozdyk.

There is a very good odds on Gvodzyk, so I will bet and cheer for him.

I even bet little money on stoppage. He got enough power to trouble any LWH.

The Nail is well on the backend of his career. Benavidez is in his prime. Logic dictates that Benavidez should win. It will all depend on what’s left of the much older Nail. Ukraine has been on a roll in the ring lately, and a Gvodzyk win would be yet another special one.

Gvodzyk knows Benavidez, they sparred before and he will know how to handle his style. I hope he still got it

I know @CST80 disagrees, but imo the Nail has been away from top competition for too long to be ready for this fight at his age.

Having said that, who knows how Benavidez will translate to 175. I definitely think the odds are way too high in his favor, so I'll be plunking down a nickel on Nail.
