My favorite part about Benavidez is the way he places his shots and generates leverage without loading up. He has exceptional command of distance and DL had no answer.

Someone with superior foot movement could give him problems (as they can give any opponent problems), but that's what it will take at 168.

Seems dumb and selloutish to me.

Smarter to take medium money in realistic fights that he can win than big money in dangerous fights he has almost no realistic chance in and, more importantly, doesn't belong in.

Lem vs Jacobs and Eubank are big fights and winnable ones.

He got lucky his corner pulled him tonight before things could snowball but fights like this can alter his career/life for nothing but a paycheck? Meh.

Canelo won't fight him, he's all wrong for him in my opinion.

Yeah, Canelo is like 100 levels above DL.

Is Plant, Charlo & Andrade all wrong for Benavidez as well?

Exactly. Plus it is not the first fight of the night where nobody is watching (TV or in the stands). You have to give the fighter his chance when all their lives have been focused on fighting for that precise moment. You don't want to get it away from them. Come backs happen. Lemieux wanted to be in there in the first place.

Sure Lemieux is well past his best, was badly outsized, and did about as well as could be expected but Benavidez still looked beastly and trust me he'll do the same to an awful lot of the best SMWs out there who are closer to him in size or his size and in their primes. He's the complete package and that smoke isn't on the menu for a lot of the top boys and contenders out there and if they do order it they'll regret doing so.

Looks like the same Lemieux that busted up Rosado.

It was a massive Super Middleweight weight bully beating up on a Middleweight with a weak chin at 160. No difference whatsoever.

I like violence and I don’t know these guys. I also like competition and competence. If a ref asks a boxer to walk he is seeing if they have their feet with them. Lem stumbled, so the answer was no. That’s when a ref is meant to stop the fight. Instead we got the rest of it where the towel was thrown in by the corner. Weren’t you crying earlier about it not being stopped after round 2? So why the aching vagina and ridiculous outburst? Have I interacted with you in the past and hurt your feelings? It makes no sense for your vagina to be aching this much when I simply commented on the ref making a strange decision. You weirdo lol
I’m sorry if we’ve interacted before and you were hurt by whatever I said lol

Funny how people pretend Canelo doesn't fight people who are wrong for him.

Hes fought Mayweather, Lara, Trout (at the time) and Bivol... all who were wrong for him.

I agree with you Kirk. I don't want to see DL lose like this. I was actually rooting for him being the underdog and being a fan of his for over 10 years.

DL seems like the type of fighter who truly believes in his talent, his power, and gives himself a chance against anyone.

I hope he gets used as a stepping stone for a younger champ and upsets him, because DL deserves to go out in glory.

It's their livelihoods, a good ref or good corner will know when to call it. I thought the stoppage was just right, maybe even a tad wee bit premature for our viewing pleasure.

Mayweather was his big first step up fight and put him on the map. It made him a lot of money.

Trout and Lara were again early in his career, I don't know what soft touches he could have taken. I also don't really think he was concerned with losing to those fighters, especially Trout.

I thought Bivol was wrong for him but that definitely wasn't the consensus. All the experts from the RingTV article on the fight picked Alvarez to win except for Kathy Duva. Most people here picked Alvarez to win so I don't know how Alvarez thought Bivol was wrong for him. It was only after the fight that it was crystal clear.

You think Canelo can take another loss if he fights Benavidez? What does that do to his brand?
