    Lemieux did say he was coming into the fight with a now or never mentality. It showed in his resilience to that utter thrashing.

    Corner of Lemieux had apparently seen enough and were signalling to pull him, which is an understandable call. From a pure refereeing perspective, had the corner not intervened, it would've been more appropriate to let the warrior go out the way he wanted to (he was earning that right by constantly firing back).

    I've never been a Lemieux fan, but I was moved by his courage there.

    I understand your comments and not one for premature stoppages but we don’t want a fighter maimed either by an over indulgent referee.

    Dock isn't the type. He knows how to play these situations, will typically give a fighter every reasonable chance while remaining vigilant and compassionate. His stoppage of Kownacki-Washington is a good example of his acumen. He was doing a good job of letting Lemieux try to fight his way back into it while keeping a watchful eye, up until the corner decided they'd seen enough.

    He'll certainly take some shifting.

    He is roughly the same dimensions as Canelo. He is a half inch taller than Canelo but Canelo has a half inch reach on him.

    But unlike Lemieux, Canelo has skills and usually pretty good defense.

    Lemieux's power can always keep him in a fight, but I wouldn't pick him to win over any decent fighter at 168lbs. Even though Super Middleweight is pretty barren right now...

    Got to see this live at the Gila River Arena in Glendale and it was a crazy atmosphere. Benavidez performed as expected, although in all honesty Lemieux was there to make Benavidez look good. I think Benavidez is on his way to becoming the next big Mexican star if he stays consistent. Guy has some crazy fast hands with pop.

    I did state that it was a BS stoppage. I had the commentary low (Ranallo is unbearable to listen to), so it wasn't immediately apparent to me that the the white flag had been waved from outside the ring. I was initially surprised that Dock would stop it when he did, since I had him tabbed as the kind of third man who gives a fighter every reasonable chance to fight his way out of a tough spot, until it was brought to my attention that the corner had prompted him;

    I realise you're easily confused, but there's such a thing as nuance;
    This guy basically made the same points;

    Run along, marica.

    Same here, not usually a fan of Lemieux but was rooting for him there.
    Benavidez seemed a lot bigger than Lemieux in there
