    Round 1 Ellis 10-9

Ellis comes out aggressive, backing him to the ropes and landing a few nice rights and hooks around his guard, he repeats that sequence a little later. By the end of the round, Benavidez seemed to come alive and find his range, landing a few nice counter hooks, but too little too late.

Yes... he could have cut the ring off better nd jabbed more effectively early, and no, Romero was slippery as an eel in there, he's probably capable of giving most Lightweights a frustrating match. So a mixed bag,

    Round 1 Ellis 10-9
    Round 2 Benavidez 10-9

Close round early, both men exchanging jabs and rights, Benavidez is picking up the volume, countering with sharp hooks, then late he lands two blistering 4 punch combos.

    Round 1 Ellis 10-9
    Round 2 Benavidez 10-9
    Round 3 Benavidez 10-9

Ellis backing him to the ropes early, David countering in combination off of them, David starts pushing Ellis back, landing heavy rights, adn looping hooks that's flying Ellis' head. Dominant third from David.

    Round 2 Benavidez 10-9
    Round 3 Benavidez 10-9
    Round 4 Benavidez 10-9

Better round from Ellis, he was catching David wih counters in between his flurries, and landing his jabs and rights on occasion, but David's combos and body attacks won him the round regardless.

Ellis starts out well jabbing and landing counters, but Benavidez says **** this, I'm tired of screwing around, backs Ellis to the ropes, starts pulling down his high guard and whipping in whole body jolting absolutely murderous hooks to the head, Ellis took at least 20 of them flush. Savage round from Benavidez.

David is looking increasingly menacing, marching forward pounding his face in with punishing power jabs, whipping in uppercuts from both hands to the body, he jolts him midway with vindictive right cross. One twos to the head for the rest of the round.

Jesus Christ, this is getting frightful. Benavidez just pulverizing Ellis with savage uppercuts and hooks around the guard, popping his head up like a Pez dispenser. David's brutal left hooks to the body are beautiful.

Doc sees Ellis at the beginning of the 9th. They let it continue. Ellis corner is really concerned.

David seemed to take that round off and still won it in one sided fashion, landing several eye catching hooks to the head, and kept landing hooks to the body hard enough to disembowel most, Ellis is insanely tough.

Round 11 Benavidez wins by TKO

David comes out very aggressive looking for the kill, he's backing Ellis to the ropes and unloading volleys of 10 punches, Ellis' head is bobbing up and all over the place, another 10 or 12 punch combo to the head. Vicious body shots mixed in, brutal uppercuts, a few straight rights, seemed to disconnect Ellis from his senses, but still somehow he remains on his feet. Uppercuts and rights coming fast and furious, David mercilessly pounding away at the head of Ellis, the ref finally mercifully waves it off.

Overall aside from looking doughy yet gaunt, bizarrely enough, and his timing being off for the first round, I thought it was an excellent showing from David, who once against showed incredible stamina, never seeming to tire, still capable of throwing blistering combos late into the fight. Also I don't think it went long because his power is overrated, merely that Ellis was as tough as shoe leather. Yeah David gets hit a little too much, but his offense is his defense, even when he does get tagged, his opponent is usually going backward and skittish, so the shots have less impact. So yeah, I thought it was a more than solid showing against a gritty tough as nails opponent. And yes, David beats the living holy hell dog**** out of Plant.

The guy is a delusional fanboy. Yildirim was beaten more convincingly by Eubank Jr and he did more than just stand there taking power punches in that fight. The fight was probably fixed.

Clenelo went the distance with a fair few bums as a young fighter while Benavidez blasted out virtually all of them, usually in the 1st round. Clenelo's knockout record against non-bum opposition is very poor. The best guy he's knocked out was a several years past it, weight drained (dehydration clause) legally compromised, alcoholic, disinterested, fought 3 months prior in a war with little time to recover, train or prepare, PED-disallowed and cashing-out Kovalev, who was probably paid more money to lose. And that version of Kovalev still gave Clenelo a lot of problems lmao.

It's no wonder that Clenelo said he doesn't want to face other Mexican fighters right now lmao, at least not if their name is David Benavidez. The same is true of the "weaker" LHW champions Bivol and Beterbiev. Alvaroids is the definition of a manufactured fighter.
