Haven’t seen a thread about this fight here. I was having a quick browse on IG on the shitter this morning and whizzed past a post about a potential fight between the two headlining a card in Liverpool. Would be a decent main event for a Saturday night card IMO. Would fancy Smith to win but would be a close fight.
Yeah this is the rumour I had heard when I said in another thread that Fowler’s next fight will be a cracker. Smith will school him.
All depends on whether it makes sense for Smith........ a backwards step for him really. But that said, it could generate some £££ in Liverpool and what makes money often makes sense. Despite the crop of domestic fighters at LMW that can all be in good battles with each other (Fitz, Fowler, Cheeseman, Eggington, Metcalfe, Conway, Williamson)......... Liam is still, and by some stretch, the best LMW in the UK. He'd be far too clever for Fowler and I think he'd stop him to be honest.
Be a good fight. I think Fowler is improving under McGuigan, but at this moment in time i would strongly fancy Smith to win.
I really like Fowler. He's got the ability and the charisma. I'd put him favourite to beat Smith, especially at this point in Smith's career.
Smith was unlucky last time out and was really put in a stupid fight with little coverage on away soil with very little upside if he won. Even as a backwards step for Smith opposition wise, it’s probably the biggest money fight for him out there at the moment. If he wins he could potentially have a Euro title fight and potentially go on and have another title shot.
Smith is levels above Fowler but Fowler could beat him once he starts to decline but I don't he's at that stage yet.
I don't mind people who speak their mind and are afraid of opposing the status quo. He seems like an interesting guy with more substance than most. Good on him.
I'm surprised you like him actually - seems like the type you'd dislike! I do admire his dedication, he "lives the life" and that will potentially propel his career further than some of his perhaps more talented but less dedicated peers (Fitzgerald). I find him completely nauseating on social media though, comes across as really dislikeable.
