Forget the Usky rematch let’s just say he retires now where would his legacy rank? I mean being able to pack out stadium after stadium and beating guys such as Parker, Martin, Povetkin, Takam, Klitschko and Ruiz Jr. Surley that’s counts for something.

He would cluster with Floyd Patterson. Similar careers.

    Not a real fighting man

    A hypejob on legs

Interesting to see what he does when Usyk slaps him again... Another Frank Bruno.

He's lucky he never got put in front of Fury. It would have been a devastating embarrassment...but someone like AJ was always going to lose before he got to that point...He's lucky Wlad is such an overrated big stiff idiot that he failed to finish him.

I'd say definitely lower than wlads, but some similarities.

He was the best HW in the world whilst champ, but only because Fury retired (like Wlad and Vitali). He had devastating power but is vulnerable and has a lacking inside game. When he's being out boxed there's no real plan B.

I'd say his legacy would be round about the same as Vitalis.

But with Fury retiring, if he beats Usyk and goes on to unify the WBC he jumps a good few places.

Well it's the thing on here to crap on Joshua but at least he unified and attempted to become undisputed.
I don't think you can judge at this point. I know that's the point of the thread but it can go in very different directions.
The above poster saying Bruno is a little asinine considering Bruno only had one belt and only held it until the Tyson rematch so....
I always think it's best judging years afterwards when the bias both ways dies down.

Him and Wilder hurt each others "legacy" by not making that fight. How's that marinating going?

Agree with you on everything here.
Boxing fans are a fickle bunch and AJ get's a hard time on this forum at the best of times. I suspect if he beat Usyk then the detractors woud say Usyk was overrated but that would be Fury and Wilder fans that have to undermine both AJ and Usyk...
It will be interesting to see what happens but as you say Joshua has always had bulberability about him which in some ways adds to the excitement of his fights. The issue is really that abilty to adapt mid fight that's troubling especially against someone like Usyk who clearly is more reactive adaptive.

Well AJ was the face of boxing until he lost to Ruiz. Combine that with Fury beating Wilder and it was almost like history was rewritten and AJ was never that good.

The fight with Usyk is gonna be interesting, I think if AJ opens up more he might well get knocked out.

Some solid wins, but there's not a lot there, in terms of 'legacy'.

Joshua had a fleeting moment, as the number-1 (but not Ring Champ) - until Fury (and Wilder for a spell) surpassed him in the division's ratings. Failing to secure matches with either Fury or Wilder is problematic.

Instead, Joshua's best scalp is likely that of Wlad K; a guy, who was coming off a loss, a year and a half earlier, to one of the aforementioned guys Joshua didn't face.

Good wins over Parker and Povetkin got him that number one spot. However, the subsequent loss to Ruiz Jr, the necessary rematch, combined with whatever commercial shenanigans were going on, for three years, to prevent him matching Fury or Wilder, left him needing to beat Usyk... ... ... ...

    ... ... ... ...Oh dear.

Yeah I think a lot of people are just writing AJ off at this point but I really don't know.
I agree that he has to take more risk but with that vulnerabilty and someone as skilled as Usyk who can take advantage then it's a tricky one.
Joshua has the power to hurt Usyk and maybe stop him but it would require him using his physical advantages which he simply didn't do last time out. I picked Usyk in the first fight but thought he would get robbed on the cards. that could happen in the rematch otherwise I think someone may get stopped I'm still favoring Usyk but I wouldn't be shocked if AJ pulled off an upset. You just can't tell with Heavyweight it has a habit of throwing a curve ball when you least expect it.

It would not be so great now because of the Ruiz fight. I would say if he has 3 more defenses, and a win over Wilder or Fury he would be in good position or legacy.
