As long as he doesn't get in the habit of getting knocked spark out by shot geriatrics? He will be fine

That's the WBO's own rule. No one had the slightest problem with it when Terry Crawford invoked it twice, first after departing 135 and then after departing 140, and he got his shots five and ten months after doing so and not fighting a single 140 or 147 pounder whereas Usyk didn't get his for over 2 years and had two fights at the weight.

Fury had to beat the Bronze dosser twice in his backyard to wriggle free from him and earn his place in the final after his cherrypicked cadaver had been robbed blind in the first fight and he should be 3-0 against him.

Strong argument for Whyte having to work his way back up to the second tier after getting iced out cold in his own backyard by a post-Covid geriatic shot Povetkin. Fact is Whyte is 1-1 in his last two fights and he was sparked out cold on his own soil in the loss by a cadaver. Usyk and Fury are unbeaten and, unlike Whyte and AJ who are 1-1 in their last 2 fights, are have gloves will travel kings of the road.

Would are better for Joshua. He could crush a couple fo cans in the meantime, declare himself back, and be right back in a mega fight with the winner.

Won't happen though. His ego is too big.

    This would be best
Give him time to work on his game & fight the unified winner, leveled up.

Serge, Povetkin didn't have COVID until after he beat Whyte with a one shot KO after getting dropped twice himself. He was still seen as a top 5 fighter at the time.
Now I agree, Povetkin did not look good in the rematch, but we don't know if that was due to COVID, due to taking damage in the first fight against Whyte, or because Whyte did a job on him in fight 2. Probably a mixture of the three to be honest. So I don't think it's a legitimate position to just say, that win doesn't count because COVID brrrrr

Smart dude, if he can make a few million and have a guaranteed shot next, he’d be dumb not to do it.

Maybe AJ don't want it and see's the stepaside money as a way out.

Watching the video I took it to mean, when pushed on the question, it would depend how much money was involved. His priority is legacy, but never say never

Personally, as discussed on another thread, I suspect it would cost them a ridiculous amount to pay him to step aside. Whether I agree with him having a contract or not. Usyk was mandatory, he chose to sign a contract that included a rematch clause. So, if they want him to step aside, they are going to have to pay the man.

If they aren't willing to pay, we have Joshua v Usyk 2 and Fury v Whyte to look forward to. With the winners fighting for undisputed.

I mean everyone knew Usyk v Joshua 2 was on the table before Fury v Wilder 3 happened. As much as I like Fury, it's difficult to sympathize with his plight here given he chose to sign a new contract with Wilder which included the third fight (Fury was mandated by the WBC) and then it took him nearly 18 months to make that first title defence. Which also delayed undisputed.

Fury should just fight Whyte. Whilst he waits for Joshua v Usyk 2 to be resolved. There would be no reason not to have undisputed after that.

He should. I highly doubt he'll beat Usyk in an immediate rematch. Usyk isn't Ruiz and won't party non-stop.

He needs to take the step aside. He can fight a like Jennings or Helenius, then fight Wilder, try and beat both and and he does his confidence will be a lot better and he might have mentally solid enough to fight the winner of Usyk/Fury

That means he has lingering doubts in his mind he can actually beat Usyk even with a new trainer.

AJ hoping Fury would soften Usyk for him.
