good question. you mean anglo-saxons? they're half from saxony. the picts and celts were driven west millenia ago. who do you consider ethnic english? normans? romans? vikings? bit of a mess when you actually consider it.
check my response above. it appears you haven't a clue. whites a minority in sweden? you sound like that idiot anders breivik.
No, whites are not a minority in Sweden. But we care about trends, because those are the indication of what's happening, and what the future will look like. Such as London going from 60% British White in 2001, to 45% British White in 2011.
no big deal. whites constitute the vast majority in both countries and that won't change, not that it would make any odds if it did. glad to see you've left the ethnic english issue alone now it's obvious i do know what i'm on about.
Anglo-Saxons have been in (what is now) England for 1500 years. I think that's long enough to be distinct as an ethnic group. They aren't Roman, as the Romans had left before the English got to "England". The original Britons (Brittonic Celts) weren't driven west. They remained where they were and were absorbed into the English. The only Britons that are left with a trace of culture from the original Britons are the Welsh. But again, they weren't driven west. They simply weren't invaded to he extent their countrymen in the east (what is now England) were. Subsequently they retained their original language. The indiginous language of Britain. What we now know as the Welsh language. The language that was once spoken all over the island of Britain.
The British commentators were comparing AJ to Lennox Lewis in the Zambano fight, its to early to say if AJ will be as good as Lewis but for me he doesn't have the skillset Lewis has. Lewis's combinations were beautiful for such a big guy. So for me based on AJ's basic boxer skills but has size, power and athleticism, not sure he has the skill set to be a great, so no not the baddest man on the planet.
Non-Hispanic Whites in the US were 90% of the entire US population some decades ago, now it's at 63% Non-Hispanic white. Recently more Non-"Non-Hispanic White" babies were born in the US than otherwise. Trends matter, but I guess not to you, as you don't care about the future of society. And the groupings of ethnicity, race, and species are arbitrary, and largely for our convenience. But that doesn't mean they're not real. In the same way what constitutes "6 feet tall" is arbitrary, but still something measurable and real when comparing to "7 feet tall."
the angles and the saxons originated in what is now germany. rome may have pulled out of britain but obviously left dna. and what about those of norman or viking descent? they don't appear to be sufficiently german to satisfy your qualification of being english. and yeah, celts and picts were driven west, not assimilated by the anglo-saxons. if anybody's ethnic english, it's those dudes.
i care about the future of society, i just don't think 1 race is better equipped to protect it than any other. go back far enough, the us was 0% non-hispanic white. then a bunch of non-hispanic whites turned up and killed most of the natives. progress, i suppose you'd call it.
No, the original Britons (the "Welsh", as the Anglo Saxons called them) were not driven west. This has been proven with a scientific DNA study. The original Britons are still in what is now England. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/sci...-tribal-kingdoms-Oxford-University-finds.html
I can't believe how populated this forum is with uneducated bigots. Some of you are frankly disgusting. I hope you are kids and there is still some hope for you.
of course there's still bloodlines. the people of brittany, cornwall and parts of ireland and scotland (people always forget the picts) would disagree about them all being welsh. but it all illustrates how difficult it is to define someone as "ethnically english", when that particular lot were from germany. thanks for the link.
Before the Anglo-Saxons arrived in Britain around the 500s the people of the island of Britain were Brittonic-speaking Celts (the Picts were the same people). They spoke a language which today survives as the Welsh language. This language was spoken from what is now Scotland, all the way through what is now England, and of course in what is now Wales. When the Anglo Saxons arrived in the 500s they called the people of the island of Britain "Welsh", which means "foreigners" in their Anglo-Saxon tongues. These "Welsh" were everyone on the island of Britain, not just the ones in what is now "Wales". Cornwall, for examples means "the Welsh of the horn of Britain". Corn-WALL. And there are many places in Scotland today that still bear their original Welsh language names such as Aberdeen (Mouth of the Deen in Welsh) and Glasgow (green meadow in Old Welsh). The Celtic people of Brittany come from Cornwall. Therefore the modern day Welsh, Cornish and Bretons are all descended from the original Britons. The Irish are a different Celtic people. They are Gaelic. The Scotti tribe is from Ireland. They settled what is now Scotland. The Scottish Gaelic language is directly descended from Irish Gaelic. And so is the Manx language in the Isle of Man. As the Cornish language is now all but dead, the Welsh and Breton languages are the last remnants of the old language of the Britons.
