Okay, so the NBA (National Basketball Association) is the most popular sport in the U.S. behind the NFL (National Football League). The NBA has players from all over the world, except for the UK, now that I think about it.

In addition to the U.S., the NBA is also wildly popular in Eastern Europe and Asia, where many popular players have come from.

The people who watch and attend the NBA playoffs in the U.S. (primarily men between the ages of 14 and 45, but it's also extremely popular with women in the same age range) is the same target market you'd market a big fight to.

In fact, negotiations for Mayweather-Pacquiao actually BEGAN when Manny and Floyd saw each other at an NBA game and met on the court and then afterward at Floyd's hotel.

And ... the announcers didn't know Joshua's name.

Although, I heard Joshua got invited to the Royal Wedding. So maybe the old ladies and fans of RuPaul's Drag Race who tuned in to watch that might know who Joshua is? Although, I doubt it.

It`s usually costs a punter £20 I don`t what that is dollars but it`s pretty expensive, what I meant though is the amount of people in Britain that will pay that to watch Wilder and AJ it would be huge.

PPV tickets in the U.S. usually go for around $100 or £75.

So, basically, if you sell a million U.S. PPVs, you generate £75 million. If you sold a million PPVs in the UK, you only generate £20 million.

This. Hearn just isn't ready to give up his cash cow. If Joshua takes the fight and gets knocked out by Wilder I can't think of any other stars Hearn has to fall back on, which is why I think Hearn is scrambling to get a foothold in America and signing up American fighters.

If Hearn keeps Joshua away from Wilder and his American deal goes through I can see Hearn signing a ton of American and Mexican heavyweight no hopers to feed to Joshua to keep the money rolling in. This will allow Joshua to somewhat mirror Wlad, who no interest in becoming undisputed, since Vitali had the WBC belt, but made a ton of money defending his three belts. I can see Hearn having the same plan for Joshua.

I dont get the point of this thread unless the point of this thread is to immaturely try to mock a Boxer. I cant believe people are trying to knock and mock the popularity of Boxings biggest earner cuz 2 dumb Netball commentators didnt get his name right.

And this also is meant to shine a brighter light on Wilders popularity in the States, Deontay, non PPV, have to give tickets away to his fights, biggest ever payday about 10 times less than Joshuas, Wilder. The 50 million apparently has come with some ridiculous demands. Americans still see the USA as the Mecca of Boxing, unfortunatly the rest of the world sees it as the Mecca of Corruption in Boxing. With Floyds IV,s, Canelos beef, ridiculous score cards, extra random rest periods for injured American fighters, Andre son of legal lowblows Ward.

Nobody trusts their chances of a fair fight against an American in America. Especially when there is alot of money being thrown about and the WBC are involved.

No its not particulary cheap its just that Americans keep getting massivly ripped off. PPV,s around the world are even cheaper. Its only America thats getting charged up to a Hundred bucks. They may see it as normal, the rest of us dont.

But in the post above you seem so proud AJ is a boxings biggest earner and now you talking about americans getting ripped off. More money people spend on ppv ,more money boxers make .

Yes i am proud AJ is Boxings biggest earner and yes Americans are getting ripped off. Its been made quite clear that Joshua isnt known in the USA so most of his earning have come from the UK and he has managed to do that with reasonable ticket and PPV prices as well as being very well marketed. Nobody has been ripped off and alot of his opponants have been paid career high paydays. Im no expert but what ever Joshua and Hearn are doing it seems a nicer formula than ripping off the punters which is the American way.

I'm not trying to argue with any basketball fans and I know some of you are being sarcastic about knowing what the NBA is.....but it's honestly surprising to me when you venture just out of the state's to say Canada(which has a league team in toronto mind you) and people will tell you basket ball is a sport and that Carter played for the raptors....but that is literally the extent of their knowledge

I knew a girl that worked as a liason for the arena and I literally had to tell her which Cav player LeBron was between him, tristan and love

I guess it's the same thing with soccer in the state's....it's the number one world sport, but here we can name messi, ronaldo ,beckham and know who pele is in the historical context

While in Brazil they probably can name lebron, curry and Jordan in the historical context:nusenuse:

EDIT: I just looked it up and was surprised that basketball is the eighth most popular world by all the participation, international clubs, leagues, viewership and money

I know it's big in China tho

This. Not just cheap, but dirt cheap. £20 is just under $27. Even back in the 90's I remember Holyfield-Foreman being around $35 and Tyson-Holyfield being around $60. Guys in the UK sure do get good prices.

Since earnings of athletes are so important for you , you want to know that basketball stars make more than joshua and there are like 4-5 basketball players in the list of top 10 worlds best paid athletes . In 2018 will prob be more than 5 .
    Joshua is not even top50

They charge them whatever they can, it’s not like they trying to keep it reasonable because they want brits to have more money in the savings , it’s just that in general brits make less and have less money.
