Interesting take. I don't agree, as it was impossible for the fight to happen even if Fury accepted it (and the Wilder 3 situation was all over the news, so AJs team would have been fully aware of this).

 

Fury also got burned before with this very fight by AJ v Dubois.

Hence why I'd be very surprised if there wasn't some sort of clause like that.

 

But he signed his contract, how can you even dispute it when that's a fact?
If the arbitration had gone in Fury's favour, AJ was then contracted to fight Fury

2. You've admitted this guy isn't a live opponent. Prior to this announcement nobody on this forum even knew he was a boxer at all. As alluded to in previous comments there were plenty of other low risk options for tune ups.

3. Neither of us can answer what both sides of Fury and AJs camp are thinking in relation to AJs opponent. Unlike you I prefer to work with the facts in front of me, not speculation.

4. If Fury can fight Mahkmudov after a 16 month layoff AJ can certainly do better than an Albanian cab driver nobody has heard of until today.

They said they WANTED Wilder next. Just as many times Wilder said he wanted AJ. This is normal in boxing. We rarely get fights we want, boxers don't always get fights they want. Networks hold a great deal of influence on what fights get approved.

And who cares, while it would have been nice, Fury v AJ is the main course that will be pretty f'n huge, even if past it's due date. Meanwhile, Wilder is going to fight... who knows.

1. What's prob in the contract doesn't really mean anything, it's just a commons sense approach given what's already happen...like I said niavity on your behalf.

2. I never said the opponent would be anything else. He isn't a live opponent as I said before. This isn't for the fight this is due to new location, new trainer, new camp altogether and only 6 months after a fatal crash.

3. This has nothing to do with furys prev fight.

4. It's called working it out. Unless your a noob to the sport most have a basic understanding of how things are done.

5. This is a boxing forum not an essay I don't care how much it annoys you if my phone changes what I type to something else.

At no point did I say AJ wasn't willing, only that he potentially fumbled a deal by trying to look tough.

Using a scenario where it was impossible for the fight to commence is being disingenuous. Offering to fight Fury when he was contractually obligated to fight Wilder is one, Fury only giving AJ 24 hours to review a contract is another.

Is it really so much to ask for you to be consistent here?

What matters is that AJ and Fury have finally signed the contract. Here's hoping nothing bad happens before they enter the ring.
