But the fact is, regardless of what anyone thinks of them, any time a fight with Fury or Wilder looks like it can happen next, Joshua or Hearn have repeatedly said over those 10 years that Joshua "needed tuneups first." Whether Joshua's fans thought he'd beat them easy, or not, that's always been consistent. He's never announced he needs "more tuneups" before he's fought anyone else. Not Ruiz, after he lost to him. Not Usyk, after he lost to him. No tuneups required before he fought Parker, Povetkin, Dubois, anyone, really. When Fury or Wilder's names are brought up as Joshua's next fight ... regardless of the circumstances, who's up, who's down, who's active, who's inactive, who's coming off a win, who's coming off a loss ... we always get this "dance" by Hearn and Joshua. And Joshua always needs one or more tune-up fights first. Always. ALL WAYS. Without fail. It seems ridiculous, but Joshua never needs extra work to prepare for anyone. NEVER. And when Wilder lost to Parker, after Hearn spent THE WHOLE YEAR insisting Joshua needed more tuneups before fighting Wilder, Hearn was "over the moon" thrilled with the loss. And Hearn no doubt would've been dancing in the aisles if Fury lost last Saturday. For some reason, those two fighters (regardless of what fans here think of Fury and Wilder) give Hearn and Joshua PAUSE that no other heavyweights in the division give them.
