Other than both of them having impressive physiques, I don't really get the comparisons to Bruno.

Bruno was never very athletic or agile, he lacked explosiveness despite his power. AJ is a much better athlete, more fluid and puts his combinations together better.

Bruno was also never very good at closer range due to his long arms, AJ shortens his punches much better making him more effective at a variety of ranges. Bruno did have a better jab though, AJ doesn't use his enough, he leads with the left hook almost as much as the jab.

I also think AJ is mentally a better competitor and a better natural fighter. Bruno was always just a gentle big man, but there's a nasty streak under the media friendly persona of Joshua. He was talking to Whyte during their fight, probably talking trash and he often smiled during the fight, sometimes after getting hit but sometimes after he landed a good shot, he was enjoying hurting his opponent.

Whyte's talent is British level at the minute, but we don't know what his power is like.

Some people on this board really need to stop thinking that there is a definitive direct relationship between power and levels.

Wlad would have been KO'd by all of those big shots last night and people talking that he doesn't have world level abilities. Yeah OK, keep chatting *******s.

Pulev rocked Wlad with a jab, Fury was dropped by a cruiser.

whyte's power is being overrated imo. he is a ****per version of chisora, with the same inaccurate clubbing punching technique. knocking out tomato cans doesn't = decent power.

Bruno was Heavy Weight Champion of the World
Was the first contender to rock a prime Tyson (Mike)
Had a fight record of 45-40 (38 KOs)
    95% KO Ratio
Only ever lost to World Champions
    - Tyson X2
    - Lewis (way ahead on points when stopped)
    - Smith (way ahead on points when stopped)
    - Witherspoon (way ahead on points when stopped)
    Was never knocked down!

Yet the experts on here use Bruno as a denigration

Some of you are complete idiots!

Nobody said that Bruno was bad. The fact is that many people are comparing Joshua to Lewis and I pointed out that Bruno would be a better comparison actually. You are the only idiot here because you have a reading comprehension problem.

I think you need to re-read a few of the posts in this thread and others

I won't lie, there was a touch of the Bruno in his stiffness early. But then again, Bruno would definitely be a world champion these days.

He's taller, bigger, stronger, smarter and saner.

It's not a bad fighter to be compared with, I don't think, but somewhat of a lazy comparison.

Joshua is 3 inches taller than Bruno - and uses that height well.

Joshua reminds me much more of Shannon Briggs than anyone.

Ultimately, he's got the potential to be better than Briggs, but that's the most fitting pro comparison I've seen.

Is more fluid than Frank and brawls more his jab is not as good or maybe just doesn't use it .Brunos jab was a real weapon and Frank I think hit harder with single shots .if Joshua has a similar carrier to Bruno then he won't be doing too bad.they are not very similar you could just as easily compare him to Mason I don't think his chin is the equal of Garrys though .RIP champ.

No, he's not as good as Bruno.

Frank was competitive with the elite of the division, AJ won't reach Klitschko/Fury level I don't believe.
