I dont think Joshua won the final in the Olympics and I havent compared him to Audley. Not sure where you got that one from?
The guy cheated his way to a gold medal. Clearly lost to Savon and didn't deserve to be in the final.
He was beaten by Savon who imo will win gold at the next Olympics, Joshua definetly did enough to beat Zhang, Dychko and Camarelle imo.
None, but were not barking on about how one of our fighters who hasn't turned pro is gonna be a world champion. And the Fury's claim to be Irish, not the other way around. Tyson's not too well liked over here anyway, but Hughie looks to have a head on his shoulders. And they didn't win medals for the Republic, boxing in Ireland is a 32 county organisation... no borders.:hi:
Savon is among the best crop of superheavies but he's by no means the most dominant. He has received some beatings as well.
No, Cammarelle beat him. As did Savon. He got the robberies only because olympics were in London, so, could a british fighter loose at points at London olympics? It's even more improbable than to see an american loose at points in america. And it will be hard at pros if you cannot even grab silver/gold at olympics. Expecially considering Joshua isn't exactly a youngster, so he should already be able to show better performances, physically if not stylistically. But it's too hard to say; for now, he just showed a slow workrate due to some low stamina, and that's bad in low round fights. He's carrying too much weight on his frame.
Too early to say, he doesn't look like a future world champion to me based on what I've seen of him in the amateurs but I think they need to take him quite slowly in the pro's, if they give him a few years to just learn his trade against journeymen, stepping him up without rushing him into fights he's not ready for but making sure he gets good sparring from the word go then he's got a chance of turning out to be a good heavyweight because at age 23 you never know, and he obviously has some ability. Before you can start talking about him getting anywhere near world level though we need to see how he is mentally in the pro ranks, how his chin/heart and stamina is etc. You see how Price and Harrison have been found out in recent years, it's just far too hard to predict what kind of pro he'll be at this stage.
i was on the Whiskey last night and got you and Cableaddict mixed up. he was the one that compared Joshua to Audley.
We'll find out as soon as he gets hurt/hit in the face a few times without protection. He's a great boxer. Physically gifted. Does he have glass? That's the question.
In the heavyweight division the big punchers can put anyone down, Wlad has a pretty poor chin he just defends it well.
