How would Anthony Joshua, as he is today been perceived in 1900. Did you miss this part? Which heavyweight champions in that era fought once a month? Jeffries had 21 fights in10 years. Corbett 18 fights in 17 years. Ruhlin 50 fights in10 years. Sharkey 52 fights in 9 years. Do you envisage Joshua going 20/25 rds with 188s lbs Corbett? , 170lbs Fitzsimmons? 167lbs Choynski? 185lbs Sharkey? Inquiring minds want to know? ps What is the relevance of Eddie Hearn to this discussion?
I don't think he would be 245 pounds. He would weigh less, and his training would not be as good as what he received today so his skills would be less refined. With what I think are minor stamina issues and some chin issues...these problems are not getting better for Johsua in 1905. Those long fights outdoors or in non-air-conditioned stuffy arenas combine with this lighter ounce gloves would exacerbate his problems. On the other hand the talent in 1905 was in transition and not as good as it is today. The myth " A Herculean giant who dominates the division is suddenly KO'd by or gassed in round 15 vs. Joe average contender. It must have been a fixed fight! "
You said 1905, so why list inactive fighter's? Pick the fighters active in 1905. This content is protected
AS HE IS TODAY There seems to be some difficulty in two posters being able to assimilate and digest these eleven letters making up four short words.
For the benefit of just you .I was replying to a different, specific question posed by a poster. What would my agenda be ? FYI Fitzsimmons was active in1905,So was Ruhlin,Choynski had fought in Nov 1904,Jeffries did not retire until 15th May 1905.
This content is protected Watch the first 50 seconds of this clip. If modern day AJ was transplanted back to 1905, that's how the bodies would hit the canvas.
As I have been accused by one poster of having a transparent agenda in picking 1905 as my designated year here, I am now altering it to 1900.
He would get Dempsey/Baer giant treatment. And he would also taste fabulous and famous Johnson uppercut.
Um, Sharkey was retied by 1905. So was Corbett. We are talking about 1905. You did not mention Fitz who was a 40+ year old fighter, and nor Ruhlin who was past his best. so no backpeadling. Jeffires didn't fight from 1905-1909, so he's out of this question too. You agenda first off is wrong based on the title of your thread and who you listed. If you want to talk about active fighter in 1905 who were in their prime, that would be Joshua vs Hart, Johnson, Langford, O'brien etc...
Well if it's 1900, then AJ s meeting the infamous J J Jeffries. Interesting bout, that was the year he faced Corbett the first time I belive? Oh I've got to be honest here and say that Jeff's getting battered, really smashed up imo. AJs not messing around, he wants him out fast, doesn't want to be still there 20 odd bloody rounds later with big Jeff s sweaty head in his chest. So Joshua pulls out everything from his bag and smashes Jeff s face in to a bloody mess. I know he was a tough old boot but he's only human. AJ batters him in to the ropes mercilessly, by the sixth round I'm saying Jeff decides to drop, he's had enough. Some may not agree, some have Jeff has some kind of invincible iron man but he's meeting someone here who's capable of doing damage.
That's what he wanted in the first place Aka his agenda! He just had the dates wrong because he's stupid and listed retired fighters. Judging on how Joshua has defensive issues and was hurting vs an old Poverktin, and Ko by Ruiz, Jeffries would KO him. He would not be as heavy or as skilled in 1900.
Another illiterate .Look fella, its underlined in my very first post. How would Anthony Joshua, as he is today been perceived in 1900.
