Say AJ turns pro on December 31, 1989. How would AJ do in the shark infested waters of the 90s?

A Jaws type shark named Evander Holyfield starts to circle him in the deep waters.

Him vs Lennox would be fun, I'd back Lennox but AJ has a decent chance. He beats '90s Tyson. Holyfield is a 50/50 depending how juiced Evander is but I'd back AJ. Big Daddy Bowe would be interesting depending how motivated/fat Bowe shows up, would probably pick prime Riddick.

Oh no, it's Evander Holyfield, he's found Anthony Joshua.

I don't think he’d beat an early 90s Tyson. He has more chance against a post Holyfield Tyson.

Didn't know Frank Smith posted here as Dorrian Grey. Joshua would have been a top 10 contender around 93-97, but he'd have taken several pastings by all of the elite guys. Mike Tyson was still a fast handed one shot KO merchant at the time, there's no reason to think AJ would've mentally or physically coped. Holyfield, one of the hardest men who've ever boxed. Lewis, bigger and stronger than Joshua and a more complete fighter. I'd not have backed Joshua with confidence against a peak Micheal Moorer. That KO of a 37 year-old MMA guy has caused so much revisionist history about Big Femi it's comical.

I think he would do well be a top 5 heavyweight and have good chance against all the top heavyweights not sure if he would win though but he would def be competitive with all of them

1991 Ruddock would be good against AJ

Depends on how he’s matched. He had the size and power to compete but his chin and defense would make him vulnerable to a lot of guys in that era. I started having doubts about Joshua when a 40 year old retired Wlad nearly sparked him.

Would he have been better than Frank Bruno of that era?

I have no idea who Frank Smith is, I just Joshua is a good fighter and that the '90s HW era is pretty overrated generally.

I think he'd be quite successful tbh. I give him a good chance against everyone.
