What do you think about Joshuas inside fighting? I keep hearing ”Joshua likes to go on the inside” and ”he is really good there” etc etc Can someone show me a example of AJ fighting on the inside? or is it all a myth
Can't tell. He might been improved also since last fight. He is able to improve. Pulev ofc wasn't even enough good to use for serious test. For me looks that he is effective in mid - long range, even better in long range. Both hands are not bad there.
yeah. This old Pulev's version, I even think Tabiti had finished him. Ofc he is capable to deliver effective uppercuts, why not. Any high level amateur boxer is capable to do this, the same Povetkin in amateur ranks too landed not bad uppercuts. For me looks that most skilled A.J version was in Ruiz II fight. Nice distance and angles control, watching for possible punches etc, keeping distance. He did had showed really not bad skills in long - long - mid range. Ruiz is skilled and with not less fast hands than Usyk does have, even prime Usyk. He is just very leg lazy, it was surprising how predictable for me was where Ruiz will move in their rematch. I mean to predict his legwork. This shocked me, usually for top 15 boxers in ammies or pros it is not easy to predict.
AJ offensively on the inside is very good but that's not the problem because defensively on the inside he is awful and open.
Joshua didn't dare throw those uppercuts, against fatso Ruiz. He is quickly neutralized when he can't faze his opponent. Deontay will deal with him if he gets past Fury. Mark my words.
This content is protected Here. He fights on the inside in spots against Takam. He's not an inside fighter but a mid range boxer puncher who's very good and throwing combinations and counters. But yes he can fight on the inside as he dropped Ruiz with a short uppercut and left hook combination on the inside. But Ruiz got back up and then ate a HUGE right hand before exchanging with Joshua so its safe to say Ruiz has an very good chin
Takam is boxer who had been worse vs prime Povetkin than " puny CW " Huck and get stopped also vs 225 lbs Povetkin when this ( Povetkin ) was not over the hill. Huck lost by MD decision vs 32 y.o Povetkin and was ~ 209 lbs.
Wilder isn`t very good on the inside because he gets his power ffrom his wide stance, he rarely fights on the inside and I don`t see how a fight between AJ and Wilder end up toe to toe on the inside because both fighters throw lang range punches, AJ floored Ruiz with an uppercut-left hook combo, good inside combo, no reason to think Wilder would have taken those hooks and uppercuts better than Pulev or Ruiz did.
Pretty good but he ate a few right hooks and has stated he has trouble with shorter opponents, Povetkin caught him with a lot of hooks and Ruiz destroyed him with a counter hook, AJ knew he couldn`t beat Ruiz on the inside in the rematch, Ruiz is a better inside fighter than AJ.
AJ is all up and down a mid range fighter. He can land something big on the inside but isnt going to stay there for very long. When he got greedy against Ruiz before he was done, he was caught and never recovered and that was on the inside. He isnt effective at long range either. AJ loves the mid range, it is where is strongest both offensively and defensively.
AJ is useless inside and avoids confrontation there after Ruiz chin in the air, 1 height, doesn't know how to position himself. The only place he can be decent is in a trade if you give him a little room to let off his rehearsed combinations Watch Fury manhandle him inside.
