Anthony Joshua is an overrated puncher

Since a lot of people have said this for a long time, I don't see how he can be overrated.

He may be a low A- or high B+, and I think that is probably because of is stamina. A lot of people don't realize that there are different kinds of power, and different things that factor in. Does Wilder hit harder with one punch...maybe. Has Wilder stopped the quality opposition that Joshua has stopped....oh hell no.

There's a lot of things he does wrong but I can't fault his power, only Takam and Ruiz have really stood up to it and both of them were at least dropped

Parker went 12 but I don't think AJ landed a shot in anger

 

AJ hits as hard maybe slightly more than Wlad and throws better/more types of punches. AJ can throw hooks at close range, Wlad didn't/doesn't/can't.

AJ's wild haymakers would knock down a tree, they won't land though which is why he doesn't throw them.

Wlad's leaping left hook was his rangey special weapon. AJ managed to avoid it whilst hurt though.

AJ's power does sap over a fight distance though if he is pressed or kept at a pace he doesn't like. That's expected. Lactic acid ain't no joke.

Funny thing is when he had Pulev really hurt he missed a lot of his follow up power punches then the finishing 1,2 he stayed calm and just set it up simply, he needs to use that composure more often.

 

I don't how to explain or describe Joshua's power, but I would say he hits as hard as....

- James Bonecrusher Smith
- Gerrie Coatzee
- Mac Foster

These guys are what I call "respectable punchers". Not in the top 20 most devastating ones, but punch hard enough for you to be wary off.

 

He's only failed to drop Usyk from memory......

Nothing wrong with his power. It's A+

 

Usyk will get dropped from one power punch from AJ. He just has to be brave enough to keep taking one or two from Usyk when he misses. In fight one he didn't come to fight, but came to box with Usyk. Next time will be a totally different fight however it ends!
