Anthony Joshua is essentially pre-Steward Lennox and Wlad, the parallels are obvious.

Joshua needs to learn how to jab and grab to make up for his absurd chin and overall lack of toughness.

@ the rose tinted glasses fraction on this boxing forum who will tell me...but but Wlad and Lennox were a lot better than Joshua ...blablabla GTFOH, no they weren‘t, not before Emanuel Steward, Wlad lost to a bunch of buffoons a lot worse than Ruiz jr. and Lennox got KTFO in humiliating fashion, so spare me with that bull****.

i'm sure jonathon banks or wlad himself could take up the job. but wlad has lots of philanthropic engagements now and banks is training other people

It'd be cool if Wlad trained him.

Maybe AJ needs more regular fights, over 8 months since last defence may have played its part in his downfall.

You could be right he could also be the next bruno tho.

I am very interested to see where he goes from here and what changes he makes tho, Jonathon banks or wlad training him would be very interesting indeed, I just can't see him leaving mcraken but maybe they could bring in jonathon banks or wlad on the side.

Personally i think the first thing he needs to do is lay off the protein shakes. He is far too heavy, he has truly become slow ponderous and robotic compared to how he was even on his debut at 230lbs, all that muscle is killing his gas tank. He either comes back much improved or i see him going out in embarrassing fashion and going down in history as a hype job.

AJ fought that fight with basically no guard . His left hand hung low from the from the very first round. Listen to MaCracken in the corner , he keeps telling AJ to keep his hands up.
Very strange performance. Joshua looked terrible and i don't think its McCrackens fualt.

I rewatched the Povetkin fight and there's a worlds difference in his performance - hands high , tight guard , stiff jab , fluid movement. He was vastly better than the Joshua who fought last night.

Lol Wlad lost to Ross Purrity because he gassed him self out in a fight he was dominating. Then he lost to Corrie Sanders and Lamon Brewster when he was 27-28. Lennox Lewis lost to Oliver McCall and Hasim Rahman. Lewis was out of shape, took Rahman lightly and got caught in a fight he was easily winning.

Wlad did didn't get better, the heavyweight division just got worse and he feasted off that. Lennox Lewis didn't get better. He lost to McCall because of a great timed punch and as I said he was beating Rahman easy and got cocky and stopped. Lewis was already skilled and continued to be skilled. Wlad also had more skill than AJ.

Are you that up that you hero Anthony Joshua lost kid?

He's physically bigger and stronger than most of the heavyweight division so jab and grab is the way to go especially against the shorter guys.

I’ve said this on another thread , AJ needs Wlad to teach him what ES taught him - it just all makes sense. ES found the key with Wlad and he couldn’t be beaten, especially against shorter fighters. With the style match up, I think he’d always lose to Fury no matter what. But could you imagine wlad losing to ruiz like last night? Absolutely no chance, Joshua needs help.
