I think he lacks confidence. The Franklin fight wouldn't have helped him much and fighting any of the guys he's been rumoured to fight won't put him in good stead either.

I think there's more chance of AJ vs. Miller/Kabayel in the summer then AJ vs. Whyte in December.

Theres an interview with Hearn where he said AJ was fighting in August and then again in December. I think well be lucky to see him box on one of those dates, never mind two.
I agree with you he wont fight Wilder and also the reason you give, unless it's a cash out.
Disagree about Whyte. I think hes a possible next opponent.
    Re the others you named
    1. Miller I quite like that fight. Been inactive but still undefeated. Would make AJ look good, hes not what he was.
But it wont be him due to past history.
    2. Kayabel. Too clever. Might make AJ look slow and silly at times.

I can’t see AJ turning down the vast sums he is being offered for this December fight in Saudi. He’s boxed out there twice before, earn’t a fortune and I would be very surprised if he doesn’t box there at the end of the year.

Feel free to refer back to this post if he does the exact opposite and you are correct haha.

I take your points Sonny and they are good ones. Got to admit to being a pessimist in such matters but I will repeat I can't see this extravaganza coming off. Really hope im wrong and if I am I will admit it. But if you are I'll do as you say also.

Slight correction: last six fights right now but it would be last seven if he beat Kabayel. He's beaten Franklin, Pulev and Ruiz 2 but lost to Usyk x2 and Ruiz 1. You have to go back to Povetkin in 2018 to find an opponent beaten that's clearly better than Kabayel, at least the version that beat Chisora.

Kabayel just took a count against some random guy who Kossobutskiy KO'd in 1 round and Price had knocked down tough fighters like Thompson and Hammer. Povetkin went on to beat a better version of Hughie by a wider margin than Parker, drew with Hunter who gave Usyk a decent fight and KO'd Whyte cold with one punch almost 2 years and three hard fights post-Joshua. So the evidence clearly favours the post-Price Povetkin over Kabayel, who vacated his European belt to avoid Joyce and failed to shut out Rudenko as Povetkin did.

After the Usyk fight Hearn said he'd be back in December and it was April.

After the April fight he was going to box twice more this year... well it's almost July and his first one isn't even announced.

Dazn must surely be hoping that AJ/Wilder lands on its own and not part of a Fury/Usyk double header which would see them sharing the PPV rights with BT wouldn't it? I'd imagine the larger chunk of PPV buys in this country would be BT ones maybe?

If Wilder KO's AJ into retirement it would mean Dazn have only had AJ for 2 fights, a non PPV against Franklin and a shared PPV against Wilder. Not the best scenario for them.

Bud being a pessimist in boxing sounds about right lol. I’m still disappointed about Lewis v Bowe not happening after Lennox blew out Ruddock and Bowe beat Holyfield the first time.

I could see AJ taking an easy one in the summer then retiring on a win. It’s crazy his fall from grace, he was once the main guy in all of boxing and a huge brand. Now you struggle to find someone who’s a fan of his at all.

Hearn and AJ made the whole stadium fight thing popular (after Froch v groves) and as it was new everyone went. Nowadays people aren’t doing that, the novelty’s worn off, paying a fortune to see AJ blast a bum out in a round isn’t worth it plus he doesn’t have sky bigging him up making people believe the cab driver he’s fighting actually stands a chance.
